Cornerville Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Nice of him to take two weeks to figure this all out and allowing some of the available coaching candidates to be taken off the board. Parcells does not care about anyone but himself
Beerball Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 I wonder who they are going to hire because it seems as though the coaches left available aren't really that strong. I could see Jones opening up the wallet to overpay for the services of Cowher. My guess is they will make a hard run at Stoopes.
VABills Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 The Dallas Cowboys are proud to annouce Marv Levy as the new geritol head coach.
Cornerville Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 My guess is they will make a hard run at Stoopes. If Jones takes a hard run at Stoopes...he better be ready to stumble quick...Stoops IMO is VERY overrated...
bluenews Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 must be another "inside source"......this board has been infested with them lately. where did you hear that??
ieatcrayonz Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 I have as much or more respect for old people than anyone but if Marv took fewer naps he could have traded for TO. Now it is too late and we'll have to get a WR in the draft.
Beerball Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 If Jones takes a hard run at Stoopes...he better be ready to stumble quick...Stoops IMO is VERY overrated... Overrated or not...Jones has not shown a penchant for hiring good head coaches. Outside of pigfacedsatan he has failed miserably.
Beerball Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 I hear Chan Gailey has been out interviewing... Could be Norv?
MattyT Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Dave Campo was such a troll. Just an awful coach. He was consistent though. Not too many coaches can say they led their team to 3 consecutive 5-11 seasons.
duey Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Speak of the devil...this from the CNNSI story... Parcells' legacy with the Cowboys can be framed this way: Instead of joining Tom Landry, Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer as coaches who led them to championships, he leaves lumped with Chan Gailey and Dave Campo. Ouch. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/foot...s.ap/index.html
Kelly the Dog Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Sounds to me like it was simply a power trip/struggle between Parcellout, Jerry Faye Baker-Jones and TO. Cowboys.com had a story that came out just before Parcellouts announcement reporting that Faye Baker-Jones said he was giving a 3 mil roster bonus to TO this spring. Too big a coincidence, IMO.
Sketch Soland Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 The third team Parcells up and split on unexpectedly. He quit on the Pats, Jets and now the Cowboys. Im sorry, but Parcells' legacy and reputation MUST MUST MUST take a hit here. Very doubtful. It's not like anyone thought Parcells was a great guy to begin with. he's still a multiple super bowl winner. parcells has lots of cred to burn.
In space no one can hear Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 If I remember correctly after Parcells led the Pats to the Super Bowl- wasn't it reported that he didn't take the team plane back to New England after their loss?
RJ (not THAT RJ) Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Of course, anyone who looks at his record should be able to smell the smoke of burning credibility. I have posted this before, but behold the Parcells Law of Diminishing Returns: Giants: 2 SB Championships Pats: 1 SB appearance, no wins Jets: 1 conference championship appearance 'Girls: 0 playoff wins If he was a stock, he would be marked a "sell." Very doubtful. It's not like anyone thought Parcells was a great guy to begin with. he's still a multiple super bowl winner. parcells has lots of cred to burn.
Oneonta Buffalo Fan Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Sad to see him go. HOWEVER, this is a huge bonus for the Bills when we play the Cowboys next year. We might have a chance now.
Bill from NYC Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Of course, anyone who looks at his record should be able to smell the smoke of burning credibility. I have posted this before, but behold the Parcells Law of Diminishing Returns: Giants: 2 SB Championships Pats: 1 SB appearance, no wins Jets: 1 conference championship appearance 'Girls: 0 playoff wins If he was a stock, he would be marked a "sell." There is WAY more to it than that. I suspect that Parcells only took the Dallas job because he was on the losing end (what a surprise) of a nasty divorce. Parcells barely has patience to hold a press conference, let alone take advice from his pipsqueak, billionaire owner. Burning credibility? Tell ya what.....I like Jauron, and the job he did last season, but if Bill Parcells was to be the Coach/GM of the Bills, we would probably be deep in the playoffs in a season or 2. In fact, I would bet on it.
fbzh2 Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 He's a great coach. Too bad we had to face him when we did and never had him on our sideline!
Peter Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 I will miss his post game press conferences. They were always entertaining.
