Oneonta Buffalo Fan Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 This guy SOUNDS good. I wonder if he is.
Chilly Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 i actualy think it was the steelers that lost whisenhunt. he saw a good opportunity in arizona and didnt want to wait around for them to make a decision. why wait around when youre STILL a candidate? they either want you or they dont, and arizona pulled the trigger. A good opportunity in Arizona?
Oneonta Buffalo Fan Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 NOTHING IS OFFICIAL YET. Sounds like Tomlin and the Steelers are dening the report. From what ESPN is saying. I think he's in, but who knows.
DrDawkinstein Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 A good opportunity in Arizona? yes, a good opportunity. you can say its a cursed franchise, but what does that mean? they have a GREAT talent pool at the playmaker positions. they need to make big upgrades at OLine and shore up the defense and they could be sitting nice in a WEAK division. other than the division part, sounds like the bills. ill take our team to the NFC West anyday.
BuffaloBilliever Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 The simplest answer is he's NOT Cowher, and he never will be. The Steelers have all the talent they need right now, and they will build off it and will thrive off it for the years to come and will ALWAYS be a threat in the AFC. They won't always make the playoffs, but they will be a significant threat.
Frez Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Russ Grimm will be the Steelers next head coach. My inside sources tell me....................
In space no one can hear Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Russ Grimm will be the Steelers next head coach. My inside sources tell me.................... Sounds like a Soprano prediction.....now Grimm is surely not in the running!
In space no one can hear Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 And the Rooneys picked Cowher over Donahoe when one of them had to go..... Looks pretty good to me! They also continued to promote Donahoe up the organizational flow chart to his level of incompetence. I'm just saying.
Frez Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Sounds like a Soprano prediction.....now Grimm is surely not in the running! Want to put some cash on this one? I do have a inside source on this issue.
Astrobot Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 yes, a good opportunity. you can say its a cursed franchise, but what does that mean? they have a GREAT talent pool at the playmaker positions. they need to make big upgrades at OLine and shore up the defense and they could be sitting nice in a WEAK division. other than the division part, sounds like the bills. ill take our team to the NFC West anyday. Add to this that AZ has the NFL's easiest schedule next year.
Frez Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Add to this that AZ has the NFL's easiest schedule next year. Easiest is based on this years teams. With free agency and changes being made in the off season it's hard to make that call right now. It's like saying a certain team had the best draft. How the hell do you really know that?
ganesh Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 I wonder what lost Grimm the job. He had to be the top guy. Could Tomlin have wowed them that much? I agree, Max, it's not like the Viks' D was the '85 Bears this season. May be he had the contacts for all his assistants ready in hand on his lap top. May be he is ready to blow a horn as wakeup call during training camp May be he is ready to tell "Troy Polamalu" where he should be playing on the defense. May be he is ready to tell ???
ganesh Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Maybe the way of Pittsburgh's defense played had more to the decision. As one could argue the reason for the downfall of the offense was due to BIG Ben's injuries and could be rectified next year when he's healthy. Whereas the defense which was considered the strength of the 2005 team took a few steps back this year. Not to mention I'm sure former Steeler alum and a highly respected head coach named Tony Dungy likely gave Nolan a glowing review. Steelers have one of the best NT in Casey Hampton and the whole defense is suited to run a 3-4....Mike Tomlin comes from a cover 2 defense and ran a 4-3 even though he had two big nose tackles....Don't fix something that aint broken. The steelers missed the play of Chris Hope (their FS, who signed as a FA with the TItans) and the lack of effort by their cornerback Ike Taylor....Of course Bill COwher will never admit that...
Frez Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Russ Grimm has been offered and has accepted the Steelers' head coaching position, a source from Frez confirmed late Saturday. Grimm, 47, succeeds Bill Cowher, who coached the Steelers for 15 seasons before resigning Jan. 5. The hiring of Grimm will be announced Monday at a news conference. ESPN and SI.com, Sports Illustrated's Web site, reported yesterday that Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Mike Tomlin had been chosen to replace Cowher. Another inside source from "Frez" confirmed yesterday that Tomlin had not heard from the Steelers and no contract negotiations had taken place.
keepthefaith Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 hmmm. really? booze? the dice? Cards? The Tree? You're in the ballpark.

Kultarr Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 That's the same thing I heard about Donahoe when he got here. Rooney has a good track record of dumping overly self-confident stuffed shirts as well.
