Beerball Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Wisenhunt will coach the cards. Anyone else surprised he's leaving the Steelers? Or was he not in line for #1 there? Are the Steelers seriously considering Chan Gailey? Folks in these here parts don't have many kind words for him. Dom Capers signed a 2.6 million dollar deal as DC in miami. He's guaranteed increased of 100K each of the next 2 seasons making him the highest paid assistant. This surprise anyone? This means miami will go offensive genious with their HC, apparently Marty Jr. is the man. Is he ready to coach? Anyone else find it unusual that the DC is named before the HC? Will anyone want to coach Oakland?
CJPearl2 Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Becuase the Steelers are notoriously cheap. I think Wisenhunt would have been a great replacement for Bill C., but they seem to be going for a cheap replacement.
/dev/null Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 i heard cowher didn't recommend either wisenhunt or grimm as his replacement. dunno if it was because he didn't want to pick a favorite or if he had doubts about their ability

I read somewhere (sorry, don't remember where) that Cowher and the Steelers were hung up on $1 mil a year. Cowher wanted 7 and the offer was 6. So you can see that either way.

marauderswr80 Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Oakland is a mess right now......Not sure many people would want that team. But then again at one point last year the Saints were a mess and Payton took the job and look where he is now......so who knows. Raiders have some talent on the team, talent that can go along ways with decent coaching.
OnTheRocks Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 This means miami will go offensive genious with their HC maybe Mike Mularkey?
Cornerville Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 maybe Mike Mularkey? That would be HILARIOUS!!!!
Steven in MD Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 The funny thing is that they did not do the same for Mularkey!

ganesh Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Becuase the Steelers are notoriously cheap. I think Wisenhunt would have been a great replacement for Bill C., but they seem to be going for a cheap replacement. The steelers are not cheap. They were already paying 4.5M to Bill Cowher one of the highest paid coaches.....Gibbs was paid 5M a year and was the true "highest paid" coach. Mike Holmgren got 8M a year for being the GM/HC when he signed the contract. However, the GM position was taken away from him 2 seasons ago, but they let him keep the money.... The Steelers were willing to go up to 6M a year for Cowher, but Cowher was not interested.... Wisenhunt would have made the league average for HCs , being a first time HC....and he would have loved to continue coaching here, getting to coach Big Ben....The Rooneys want to find the right guy and that is taking time....Ken did not want to wait for them to make a decision and rightfully so took the Arizona job.....Arizona has some exciting talent in Leinart, James, Boldin and Fitzgerald. If they can shore up the OL and bring in some Steeler toughness, they will surprise people in the weak NFC West.....
KRT88 Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Steelers are suppose to be after one of Minnesota's assistants coaches. They have scheduled a second interview.

Al can come out on Halloween each year.
