ganesh Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Raiders | Trestman interviews for offensive coordinator position Tue, 9 Jan 2007 22:18:57 -0800 Steve Corkran, of the Contra Costa Times, reports Oakland Raiders managing general partner Al Davis interviewed Marc Trestman Tuesday, Jan. 9, for the vacant offensive coordinator job, a person familiar with the process confirmed. Trestman worked with the Raiders from 2001-03. In 2002, he was behind the Raiders top-ranked offense. The team advanced to the Super Bowl that year. Why would they hire a OC rather than let the newly hired Head Coach to piick his preferred coordinator ?
Max997 Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 because they are probably going to give the head coaching job to their defensive co-ordinator
ganesh Posted January 10, 2007 Author Posted January 10, 2007 because they are probably going to give the head coaching job to their defensive co-ordinator Wouldn't you still expect the soon to be the HC to make his choice for the OC position or at least make it look like that ?
obie_wan Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Maybe because Al Davis is finally going to actually name himself head coach.
sfbillsfan2 Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Caught me as rather strange too. The local paper out here (Bay Area) speculates that they may hire Steve Sarkisian as HC and asked him during the interview process about the notion of hiring Trestman as OC. It's still a strange way to run a team.
MartyBall4Buffalo Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Because it's the raiders. They should hire Rob Ryan. He's done a great job with that defense considering their very lousy offense, and has familiarty with the organization. However Davis wants an offensive coach. Raiders all about flash over substance.
