cale Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 Small blurb at the bottom of this page: http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=550335 When you only have 32 franchises...Seems to me you don't have much of a choice...Plus with money and private planes it truly is the "global" village. No big loss. Rice was on the downturn after SF/LA. C
Albany,n.y. Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 If we had drafted him in 1985, he would have either signed with us or have gone to the USFL & then he would have joined us in 1986. The Hall of Famer Jerry Rice may not have joined us as a free agent, but young Jerry Rice wouldn't have had much of a choice. There was no free agency until 1993.
IDBillzFan Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 I'm glad that's been cleared up because it's really been weighing on me lately.
Wiz Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 Apparently, Jerry liked the "lifestyle" practiced in San Francisco. He always seemed a little light in the loafers.
dave mcbride Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 Small blurb at the bottom of this page: http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=550335 wow - yet another dumb jock.
Dwight Drane Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 Apparently, Jerry liked the "lifestyle" practiced in San Francisco. He always seemed a little light in the loafers. BUTT I just don't understand West Coast ideals. I liked the laid back feel around the outskirts of LA, but it really lacks character.
smokinandjokin Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 I don't have expendable income pouring out my ears, but I have been in many different cities of various size, status, and quality, and I have always been able to find a good time. Throw in a $2 million per year salary, and I'm pretty goddam sure I would tear it up no matter where I was...
IDBillzFan Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 BUTT I just don't understand West Coast ideals. I liked the laid back feel around the outskirts of LA, but it really lacks character. Us folks on the outskirts of LA are more concerned with being high-motor rather than having any character.
PromoTheRobot Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 Any player who is more concerned with extracurricular activities than playing football is probably a player you don't want. (Mr. Rice may be an exception.) Mainly, players want to play for winners. If Buffalo was a good team, we'd have no trouble getting good players. Players who embrace Buffalo because the candya$$e$ who prefer to play in Miami fear coming here. PTR
sweetbaboo Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 pshaw...if jim kelly took him to the sundowners, he'd sign up right away why else do you think moulds stuck around for so long? he was a regular!
The Jokeman Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 If we had drafted him in 1985, he would have either signed with us or have gone to the USFL & then he would have joined us in 1986. The Hall of Famer Jerry Rice may not have joined us as a free agent, but young Jerry Rice wouldn't have had much of a choice. There was no free agency until 1993. Or he could have pouted his way to a trade ala Chris Burkett another 1985 WR we drafted that people forget about
