dib Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 The Scum Sentinnel already mentioned him as a possible replacement for Saban
Cornerville Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 No link...some schmuk on ESPN Radio reported Bill Cowher will retire, will have a Monday PC No link available.
silvermike Posted January 4, 2007 Author Posted January 4, 2007 Miami would have to give up cash and picks to get him from the Rooneys, who might refuse just about any offer since Cowher is 'retiring'.
MadBuffaloDisease Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 The Bucs gave up 2-1st and 2nd rounders and $8M in cash to the Raiders for Gruden. Cowher would command more. Can't see this happening this year.
BUFFALOTONE Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 He will step away for at least a year. Probably wait to see of Jon Fox can rebound and if Carolina is willing to entice Cowher to replace Fox a lil down the line. Could happen.
MattyT Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Wonder if this is a "Barry Sanders" retirement or a "Junior Seau" retirement.
Sketch Soland Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 What part of "expected" to retire means "done deal"?
NavyBillsFan Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 With all the rumors and stuff floating... Ill bet anyone in here dinner he ends up in Carolina next season.....
WVUFootball29 Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 With all the rumors and stuff floating... Ill bet anyone in here dinner he ends up in Carolina next season..... hate to say it navy, but I agree with you
bills_fan Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 That makes Joe Torre the longest tenured manager in the four major sports. Followed closely by...Lindy Ruff. Go Lindy!!
RayFinkle Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 With all the rumors and stuff floating... Ill bet anyone in here dinner he ends up in Carolina next season..... I'll take that bet. They just signed Fox to a HUGE deal this past off season. John Fox is here for a couple more years.
Fan in Chicago Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 I'm surprised he re-signed. Yeah. You would have expected him to be re-tired. A couple of Michelins perhaps.
silvermike Posted January 4, 2007 Author Posted January 4, 2007 So, current vacancies are: Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Arizona, Miami. Likely/possible futures: Oakland, New York (N), Cleveland Am I missing any?
syhuang Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 That makes Joe Torre the longest tenured manager in the four major sports. No, it is still Jerry Sloan. 19 years and counting......
Matt in KC Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 So, current vacancies are:Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Arizona, Miami. Likely/possible futures: Oakland, New York (N), Cleveland Am I missing any? Wow, it looks like Mularkey or Greg Williams may get another shot at a head coach job this year! (kidding)
silvermike Posted January 4, 2007 Author Posted January 4, 2007 So, newcomers? From the newly unemployed: Saban already has a job, Cowher should take the year off, and Dennis Green probably won't get another go-around. Jim Mora, Jr has an outside shot, I think, of landing a new job. I think that if wither Crennell or Coughlin gets fired, they'll have some serious interviews. Shell, of course, will go back whence he came.
ganesh Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 I'll take that bet. They just signed Fox to a HUGE deal this past off season. John Fox is here for a couple more years. Unless John Fox wants the Giants job, which might open up if Coughlin stumbles either this year or next year.
Lori Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Unless John Fox wants the Giants job, which might open up if Coughlin stumbles either this year or next year. That could be as soon as next Monday...
