Of the 11 teams who pick before the Bills, 3 of them have a very serious need at QB imo (Raiders, Lions, and Vikes). 2 more (Bucs and Dolphins) would appear to have questions there as well. This is obviously good for the Bills, who will not be going there early, if at all.

I counted no less than 6 teams with a clear need for blockers (Raiders, Lions, Browns, Cards, Texans, and Dolphins). This is not so good for the Bills, but it might not matter because OTs usually go before OGs, and our biggest OL needs are in the middle.

Interestingly enough, I think that all 11 teams need lots of help on defense. Miami is old on the defensive side, so I counted them too.

One of these teams is certain to take Calvin Johnson. How would he have looked opposite Evans? :wallbash:

I hope that a couple of the teams before us grab corners so they will be gone when we pick, although this doesn't always work. When the Raiders took Huff, I was the happiest man in the United States..... but only for about 13 minutes because we still wound up with a safety.

In any event, the Bills appear to be well situated for April. Thoughts?

None yet... :wallbash:

But there was an article in my n'paper Sunday, about the Raiders and the draft...

- they have only once had the #1 overall pick. They took Roman Gabriel in 1962, who signed of course with the L.A. Rams.

- they have taken a 1st round QB only twice since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger: Marc Wilson at #15 in 1980, and Todd Marinovitch at #24 in 1991.

It seems that since 2001, they have been using their best picks primarily on defensive backs (and of course the flop at OT).

Sounds hauntingly familiar. :wallbash:

LB is the most likely option.

Spikes is a shell of his former self and Fletcher is too close to hitting the wall to justify a big contract.

Top DTs will be gone and OG will be available in 2nd round.
