LABILL Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 Just watched the game. Forget about Coy taking over FS. He looked lost and slow. He also, surprisingly, looked like he's not good at tackling. Releasing Shaw and Prileou would put back $3 million in salary cap -- and Aiken and Baker look like they could fill the slots better. Coleman looked terrible. Brown seems like a gonna, since he didn't even appear. McGee always looked athletic -- wonder why he never was given a real shot last year at KR. By the way, why can't he PR, as well? I thought Sullivan was automatic to replace Brown at Guard before the season. After this game, I now understand why he is not even being considered. Trey Teague looked unbelievably good! Even on the sideline, he looks bigger! What happened? Larry Smith looked fine -- how amazing that if you plug up that one hole, Bledsoe looks that much better. Smith may not be the answer, but he clearly shows that the problem is that one little hole in the line -- we just need one servicable player. If there is one guy we need to sign (perhaps by cutting Shaw and Prielou and handing over an extra $3mill to him) -- it is JONAS JENNING. Let's do that now.
ARGB52 Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 I think Coy Wire might get cut. I saw a free agent rookie telling him were to play last night. I think there will be a lot of surprise's this year, Coleman, Wire, Price or Sullivan. I think Greer will make the team so it might be P. P. or Wire that gets cut. IDBillzFan Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 I saw a free agent rookie telling him were to play last night. How can that be? I don't disagree with what you're saying. I'm just wondering...I always though the rap on Coy was that he was a workout demon, but very disciplined. Is it possible he is THAT confused by what Gray is trying to do? He shouldn't be. Hey #89, any idea what the gig is here???
Typical TBD Guy Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 Aren't Stanford guys supposed to be smart???
USMCBillsFan Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 Aren't Stanford guys supposed to be smart??? 4049 Yeah, if your an engineer!!
stuckincincy Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Aren't Stanford guys supposed to be smart??? 4049 Not so much. There are sites now that tell folks what colleges to go to get "piece-of-candy" grades. http://gradeinflation.com/
Guest BackInDaDay Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Even if he doesn't win the starting FS spot, he's too valuable as a backup DB / Special Teamer to cut. Look for him to spell Milloy again this year. CW's a converted LB/RB (Stanford). IMHO he should get stronger to takeover the SS spot, forget trying to get quick enough for FS.

Steve Tasker and Mark Pike were career non-starters.
clayboy54 Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 I agree, unless Wire makes the team as a ST specialist (ala Tasker) he is clearly on the bubble. Honestly, from what I've seen, I'd much rather keep Rashad Baker.
MadBuffaloDisease Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Yeah, no way Wire gets cut. I'd even doubt Sullivan gets cut since who do you keep over him? I think Prioleau is a goner, and so too is Antonio Brown. Shaw I think stays.

And if they carry 5 WR's I also think Shaw stays.
sharp Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 how about that , fix the o-line by replacing an 8 time pro bowler with a 2 year practice squad guy

He's proven to be a bust! He's not a receiver so it shouldn't take him this long to learn his assignments. He's lost back there in the secondary on coverage! Cut his ass now.
kasper13 Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Coy Wire was all hype and no substance. Special Teams player and nothing more. He can go when Clarence Coleman & Antonio Brown leave on the 31st.

Sanners Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Funny, I just watched my Tivo version of the Titans' game, and i must agree Wire looks like crap. He hasn't done a damn thing to warrant a roster spot. Also, people act as though he is a special teams demon. I really don't see that much from him on that facet of the game as well. He's a likeable guy, and I root for him, but his football skills don't add up.
Estro Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Shaw stays no doubt (most productive receiver last yr), Wire stays, 3rd round Pick 3 yrs ago, not going to cut him. Lauvale Sape will be cut, possibly Justin bannan as well, due to S. Adams, P. Williams, R. Edwards, and T. Anderson all being ahead of him. Prioelau is expendable, however i think he's too valuable to let go. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Pucillo gets cut along with A. Brown, and C Coleman. Keith Mckenzie is a gonner with the addition of Gildon.
#89 Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Bannan has a broken arm and a soft cast on for playing(might still make the team) Coy had a better Broncos game I don't know what was wrong in the Titans game except most of the Vets had a Bad game. Where were their heads. My goal Wednesday at camp is to talk to COY and ask what's up and to Willis and ask if the trade rumors are just a story or if he actually said that to someone not thinking that it might be overheard or leaked to the press. The Bills did a lot of damage control press meetings on that subject which leads me to believe Willis or Travis said it to someone in public. I did tell Mike Williams after the game that I gonna hunt Willis down to talk to him. Mike smiled and said I know you will.
ch19079 Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 90+ tackles his rookie year alone, keeps him on our team. hes a SS, trying to play FS. it IS A DIFFRENT positon, so it might take him some time to get used to it. i would feel better if he was the backup for half of the season, comming in on short yardage or "rushing" downs. than let him start the last 7-8 games.
Simon Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 I think Coy Wire might get cut. I saw a free agent rookie telling him were to play last night. I didn't see the instance you're referring to but I will say that it's not uncommon for young players to point out what everybody else already knows just to reassure themselves through vocalization. Just because the kid said it does not mean Coy didn't know it. Cya
