Bills Fan888 Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 What would your offseason plan be. Here's mine. QB-Sign JP to a long term deal HB-trade McGahee for a draft pick WR-Sign Lee Evans to a long term deal. Draft someone like Dwayne Jarett or get Drew Bennet. TE-Sign Daniel Graham or draft someone OL-sign Eric Steinbach or draft someone. DL-sign a big DT. Re-sign Chris Kelsay LB-re-sign Fletcher DBs-re-sign Nate Clements K-nothing P-nothing
Pete Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 Steinbach would be a great fit on our oline! We would have one of the better lines in football IMO if we landed Steinbach
Bills Fan888 Posted December 30, 2006 Author Posted December 30, 2006 Jason Peters, Mike Gandy, Melvin Fowler, Steinbach, Pennington. That would be a great line with a great player on the left and right.
scribo Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 My plan: Re-sign Nate for big bucks Let London walk Re-sign Kelsay Sign Ian Scott in free agency Sign Eric Steinbach in free agency Re-sign Gandy Sign Floyd Womack in free agency Ban Steinbach from boating on the Erie Don’t return Tim Anderson’s calls Trade Nall for whatever we can get Let Andre Davis go be fast somewhere else Re-sign A-Train Trade down and draft Amobi Okoye Trade back up and draft Justin Blalock Trade Mr. Royal for whatever we can get Sign Daniel Graham in free agency Cut Shelton Sign Justin Griffith in free agency Don’t give McGahee an extension unless it is a good deal for the team Give Losman an extension Draft Anthony Waters in the 4th or so How's that o-line: Peters, Gandy, Fowler, Steinbach, Womack -- with Justin Blalock, Preston, Pennington backing up -- a very solid starting unit with decent young depth who will be learning as they backup the vets. OK, so there is too much to get done here, but I think they are good goals to start with.
frogger Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 I think if we landed Steinbach, he starts at LG, Gandy played both with chicago, he isn't the greatest pass blocker, but is a solid run blocker, move him to right. Womack is overrated, I'd like to see what pennington becomes, that and add a 4th rounder.
Buffaloed in Pa Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 We are not signing anyone big as long as OLD CHEAPO Ralphy is around. We are going to be in the 30-35 million cap under range. We have the money. It`s just prying it out of those icy fingers, that`s going to be hard.
CFLstyle Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 QB- Sign JP Losman to a long term deal HB - Sign Willis McGahee to a long term deal. WR- Sign Lee Evans to a long term deal. Draft Dwayne Jarett or sign Drew Bennet. TE - Nothing. OL - Sign Eric Steinbach and a couple of late draft picks. DL - Re-sign Chris Kelsay. LB - First round draft pick at MLB, also a veteran FA at MLB. DB - Re-sign Nate Clements. K - Nothing. P - Nothing.
CFLstyle Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 And Andre Davis is a special teams STUD, he won't be leaving any time soon.
scribo Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 I think if we landed Steinbach, he starts at LG, Gandy played both with chicago, he isn't the greatest pass blocker, but is a solid run blocker, move him to right. Womack is overrated, I'd like to see what pennington becomes, that and add a 4th rounder. You are right. Put Steinbach on the left next to Peters -- can you imagine that combo? Womack may be overrated in some circles, but I think he can be had for reasonable money, and if we want a dominating line, Pennington is not ready to be the right tackle, especially when playing next to Gandy, and especially especially on a playoff-bound team, which is what I hope the Bills see themselves as next year.
Bills Fan888 Posted December 30, 2006 Author Posted December 30, 2006 With a solid offseason we could be a great team.
Rubes Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 With a solid offseason we could be a great team. Forget it. Marv's too old and Ralph's too cheap.
Bills Fan888 Posted December 30, 2006 Author Posted December 30, 2006 Forget it. Marv's too old and Ralph's too cheap. You can win without signing big name players. Look at the Pats.
Gary M Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 Forget it. Marv's too old and Ralph's too cheap. He's not cheap, he's frugal.
MadBuffaloDisease Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 You can win without signing big name players. Look at the Pats. Well, paying-off the refs doesn't count against the salary cap, so you're technically right.
scribo Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 He's not cheap, he's frugal. Can you use coupons when signing a player? Is there a shopper's club card for GMs? We should get a senior's discount. Really, it is not funny.
Rubes Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 You can win without signing big name players. Look at the Pats. I really must learn to use the [/sarcasm] tag.
Bills Fan888 Posted December 31, 2006 Author Posted December 31, 2006 I really must learn to use the [/sarcasm] tag. to bad we can't use the [franchise] tag on nate.
