Stl Bills Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 I'm not saying I want Willis gone but this whole Rosenhaus/New Deal BS has me thinking of who might be available to repalace Willis if it were to come to that. I'd take Michael Turner from the Chargers. Who else is out there?
Stl Bills Posted December 28, 2006 Author Posted December 28, 2006 This group pretty much sucks besides Turner IMHO..................... Michael Turner RFA, Chargers Chris Brown, UFA, Titans Amhan Green, UFA, Packers Correll Buckhalter, UFA, Philadelphia Eagles Najeh Davenport, UFA, Pittsburgh Steelers Nick Goings, UFA, Carolina Panthers Maurice Hicks, RFA, San Francisco 49ers Patrick Pass, UFA, New England Patriots B.J. Sams, RFA, Baltimore Ravens Marcel Shipp, UFA, Arizona Cardinals Antowain Smith, UFA, Houston Texans
BuffaloRebound Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Turner will cost a 1st round pick as I'm sure the Chargers will tender him an offer that will require 1st round compensation.
Phlegm Alley Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Turner will cost a 1st round pick as I'm sure the Chargers will tender him an offer that will require 1st round compensation. They will get it too because I read in the NY Post a couple of weeks back that the Giants are interested in him as a replacement for Tiki.

Tortured Soul Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Spec is Fred Taylor will be cut. I would jump on him and team him with a mid round pick.

Olaf Fub Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 I think we can get a RB, if needed, in the draft. I'm not saying he'll be great but I'm OK with the A Train as the starter as well.
R. Rich Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 This group pretty much sucks besides Turner IMHO..................... Michael Turner RFA, Chargers Will be a hot commodity this offseason. Already talk of the Jets pursuing him. Chris Brown, UFA, Titans Runs too upright, which leads to injuries. Amhan Green, UFA, Packers Too much mileage and injuries. Correll Buckhalter, UFA, Philadelphia Eagles Healthy........for now . Najeh Davenport, UFA, Pittsburgh Steelers They will probably re-sign him. They seem to like what he offers. Nick Goings, UFA, Carolina Panthers Does not impress me as a featured runner. Good for spot duty as a backup. Maurice Hicks, RFA, San Francisco 49ers We have a return man already. Patrick Pass, UFA, New England Patriots I like Pass, but not as a featured back. As a lead blocker/ receiver out of the backfield/ special teamer? Yes. B.J. Sams, RFA, Baltimore Ravens We have a return man already. Marcel Shipp, UFA, Arizona Cardinals Decent receiver out of the backfield. That's 'bout it. Antowain Smith, UFA, Houston Texans Why is Ron Dayne getting the carries instead of Antowain?? Hmm...

Sams, RFA, Baltimore Ravens Marcel Shipp, UFA, Arizona Cardinals Antowain Smith, UFA, Houston Texans I like Turner on that list but I would keep Willis as well. Turner would make a great change up runner, not to mention that 3rd and short power back. Does he pick up the blitz very well ? Don't forget about Willis, this year he really excelled at picking up the blitz ! It was critical development this year that contributed to JP's development.
PIZ Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Any chance the Bears would trade either Thomas Jones or Cedric Benson?
marauderswr80 Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Turner or Buckhalter would work.......Turner is a diamond behind a 25 karat diamond. Turner is a good RB, just happens to backup LT.
Rubes Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Damn, we should get Antowain back here. Then we could have two A-trains at the same time!

bizell Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 ooh patrick pass could be our 3rd down back/jack of all trades, much like kevin faulk does for the pats.
ko12010 Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Spec is Fred Taylor will be cut. I would jump on him and team him with a mid round pick. Just think we could've drafted Fred if we didn't trade our pick to Jax for Rob Johnson. Out of the available running backs, I actually think there are some pretty good players. Najeh Davenport could be awesome being the #1 guy behind a consistent line. Brett Favre always regarded Davenport very highly. He said that Najeh could be an 1800 yard back as a starter. Also, Chris Brown is pretty good.
MartyBall4Buffalo Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 I wouldn't get any free agent rb, unless it's to be a backup. That's not the way to get starting rb's. The Draft is. There's been too many hot shot backups that just don't pan out. That's not to say Michael Turner won't, but theres also a chance he could become the next troy hambrick/kevan barlow/lamont jordan which the overall production he gives you as a starter just doesn't amount up especially for the type of contract that he'll likely receive. The draft is the only way to go.

Davenport has been in the league 5 years already and while he's performed well as a backup the most carries he's received in a season in 5 years is 77. Like I said in my previous post. Draft a rb, not take other teams backups.
RochBillsFan Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 why do we have to do anything? Willis plays next year and is forced to have a great year as he will be going into a RFA year the next year. Then we tag him. Buffalo holds all of the cards in this one.
