Who do the big city robber barons want to face?

Why do you think that these guys would be scared of competition?

Who would you rather fight in an alley, a tough big guy or a wimpy little guy? What fans often seem to misread or misunderstand about these guys like Snyder and Jones and Kraft is that they don't want to make more money for the league, they want to make more money for themselves, and hence be able to use it to their advantage for their teams and then pocket the rest. They don't try to build up the NFL. They also care more about being thought of as champions than they do just lining their pockets. And it's an ego thing not a "Boy, I just love the sporting competition" kind of thing. They don't want to fight a team in LA, they want to win and own everything themselves. They're happy with Ralph crying poverty, and why wouldn't they be?

Because if he gets his way, they'll have to share more of their revenue with us, correct?

No. They're going to pay the same amount based on a percentage. Ralph is complaining that there are certain rules that will make Buffalo, one of the poorest and smallest markets, not qualify for all of the aid available that the big market owners have agreed to pay. There also may be items of revenue sharing that have yet to be determined, like some of the sponsorships. But Ralph's problem is these "qualifiers", which could possibly make the Bills get, say, 75% of the aid that could be available to them versus 100%. That 25% would simply go to a different team that didn't need the help as much and could make the Bills not have as much cash.

People also fail to differentiate between two perceived evils, the Big Bad Owners and The Big Bad NFL. They are not necessarily the same thing or threat to Buffalo.

What these guys want is money, first and foremost. Getting the BUFFALO Bills, in the smallest TV market in the NFL, out of there and into LA means another $400M more in TV revenue at least a year for the owners to split. And there's no guarantee that when a team gets placed in LA that local revenues will even approach what the other owners are making.

Where does $400 mil figure come from? The revenue from ratings comes from commercials and goes to the networks not the league. Not to mention that everyone I have ever met here in LA that knows a thing about football already watches football on Sunday (hundreds), and those that don't don't give one sh-- whether there is a team here or not (not one ever). There is never any talk here about football. The networks already lose money on the TV contracts. I sincerely doubt there would be any discernible extra money they would be willing to pay the NFL if there was one less team in Buffalo and one more team in LA, regardless of the market, and it is nt really based on ratings. They are maxed out. And whatever would be, would be divided 32 ways. Again, people misread the big bad owners and the big bad league.
