Dibs Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Translation = he gets a lot of garbage sacks 864773[/snapback] Does he now? Really? Are you sure now? You aren't just saying that because he got two in his last game? You're not just saying that because you don't like him & it is 'the thing to say' about him? How about comparing when he gets his sacks to his two biggest rivals???? Don't worry, I've done it all for you. Schobel.... 13 games played 12.5 sacks in 8 different games 2 junk sacks Peppers.... 13 games played 11 sacks in 6 different games 3 junk sacks Taylor.... 13 games played 11.5 sacks in 9 different games 2 junk sacks If you need me to, I can type out the down, distance & time in game of all three DEs. I wish people would just STFU about Schobel regarding his 'junk time' sacks. When you look at the actual play by play of the games, he is totally comparable to his 'great' counterparts(regarding pass-rush). Oh....one more thing..... ......you're wrong, you're wrong.......

BuffaloWings Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 I voted for great, but the word "under-rated" suits him more. He's not at the Bruce Smith level, but probably a notch or two below him. He's also not a DE that just occupies the position. Opponents now can't disregard him - especially on passing downs.
Fixxxer Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 If he would dance a lambada after every sack he would have gone to the Pro Bowl a couple of years sooner. Great player. Always around the QB, getting to him or disrupting his rythim.
bschmoove Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Schobel is a good player, but has anyone noticed he has no inside move? He always runs stright ahead and takes the seems to turnstyle into the pocket instead of rushing through a blocker or making a move to the inside.
Matt in KC Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Actually, for the last couple years he's had a very good inside move. He rushes upfield through the LT for a couple steps, then stops on a dime and turns 40-60 degrees to his left, right into the QB. It not an initial burst to the inside, but it has been effective.
Ramius Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 great, highly underrated player. Quietly one of the top 10 DE's in the game.

Schobel has developed a spin move, and uses it frequently. AS spent most of his career playing next to DTs such as Pat Williams and Big Sam, who were probably unable to stunt. I am still not sure how good Triplett is, but he DOES provide some pressure up the middle on passing plays, and Schobel is capitalizing on it. When he was young, he would get manhandled by OTs such as Hopkins, etc. This too is no longer happening as much. He is SO fast that he can get in there if these guys make any mistake. I don't know what posters don't like about him. He is no Bruce, but all that means is that Bruce is an all-time great. That said, AS is one of the best pass rushers to ever wear a uniform for the Buffalo Bills.
