stuckincincy Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 NYS is pressuring the Amish over child labor laws. Amazing. I can't think of a group that puts less demands on society, that are as honest or self-sufficient. Their children are fine people, and are not being used or abused. The State has no business sticking their overarching nose in here, IMO. http://www.niagara-gazette.com/local/local...=secondarystory
Orton's Arm Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 New York State apparently feels it hasn't driven away enough good people yet, so now it's driving out the Amish. Terrible.
Buford T. Justice Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 In future legislation, children can no longer perform more then 30 minutes of household chores a day and no greater then 2 hours a week. Stupid lawmakers, I'm greatful for hours of working on the farm as a kid doing harder work then most adults do now days.
Just Jack Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 Why, oh why couldn't thay have gone after my parents when I was young and having to do all those chores during the summer?
Nanker Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 They could get around it if the kids owned the business. Even NYS couldn't stop them from owning their own business.
/dev/null Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Wonder if NYS would be so eager to go after them if it was a Muslim community
ExiledInIllinois Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Wonder if NYS would be so eager to go after them if it was a Muslim community Are you kidding? You know the bully ALWAYS picks on the one least likely to fight back!
