The Foley Scandle post-mortem

The House Ethics Committee report is out. The GOP "leaders" were deemed negligent, but somehow didn't break any rules by being negligent.

House Ethics finds GOP leaders negligent

The House ethics committee has concluded that Republican leaders did not break any rules in handling ex-Rep. Mark Foley's improper advances to former male pages but were negligent in protecting the teenagers, a congressional aide said Friday.

Seems like an "overly friendly" conclusion.

Makes perfect sense, considering that there's NOT ONE LETTER in the House Ethics guidelines that covers anything REMOTELY like sexual harrassment. So they didn't break any rules, because there aren't any to break...but they really, really want to believe the House leadership was wrong anyway.

The real farce will be that, despite all that, they STILL won't add any sexual harrassment rules to the ethics, even though they just found the House leadership "negligent" for breaking the rules that don't exist. !@#$ing morons... :wallbash:

So now it's been established that the House (Republican) leadership is nearly pristine, and that the Democrat leadership knew the same things as their counterparts across the aisle and chose to do nothing about it either - until late October.

Will Foley be charged with any crimes other than those against the laws of human decency? Is this gay bashing? Or, would it be if he were a Democrat? If Foley held the House seat from the Congressional District including say, San Francisco would his public ridicule have been tempered any?

Nah.
