The B'gals latest arrestee

Recommended Posts

Oh, the troubled youth of America... :D

McNeal, QB from Texas A&M, was the B'gals 6th rounder this year. He swore he wouldn't play wr, but changed his tune when he was told to like it or go home.

"Bengals' McNeal arrested

BY MARK CURNUTTE | ENQUIRER STAFF WRITER 12/4/06

Bengals wide receiver Reggie McNeal faces a Friday court date in Houston, following his weekend citation for resisting arrest.

McNeal, 23, was arrested outside a Houston nightclub at 2 a.m. Sunday. He struck an off-duty officer in the chest with his elbow after being told that the club had closed for the night.

The police report states that McNeal was told the club was closed but became verbally abusive and used profanity towards the officer. The officer backed up. McNeal approached again. The officer smelled the odor of alcohol on McNeal’s breath. Then when the officer tried to place McNeal under arrest for public intoxication, McNeal elbowed him in the chest.

The two men fell to the ground."...

does that mean it's about time for them to start going for seconds? That just about covers it for everyone's first arrest, right?

IIRC, there are 6 players total. 2 with infractions before joining the team (3rd round DE Frostee Rucker with an assault charge pending from his college days - he's on IR - and 4th round pick LB A.J. Nicholson - B&E and theft pending charge...he and another stole their buddy's stereo.).

NcNeal's disorderly, Thurmann's dui, Steinbach's boating infraction. WR Chris Henry has had 2 dui's, a probation violation (he was barfing out the window of Thurmann's vehicle) plus flashing a stolen gun in Florida - I think that was dismissed...not sure.

Odd one about Henry. He was accused of boozing up and raping an underage girl. She was subsequently charged with a false accusation, and 2 months or so later, she was charged with the murder of some other guy.

And I distinctly remember Lewis warning his players to stay out of trouble when he gave them 3 days off after the win over Baltimore...

The B'gals contract language - put in place after Carl Picken's shenanigans, was tossed out with the new CBA.

It had real teeth...any player who did things "detrimental to the team or its image" would lose all monies, including return of signing bonuses.

Lewis is a genuinely good man - he has some well-supported charities here, as do several players. But he sticks his neck out for some of these young kids, and they seem to pounce on it.

He's sat down Henry beyond his 2 game suspension, but with Kelley Washington out for weeks with a hamstring, and Tab Perry on IR with a bum hip, he stays in the line-up. I wouldn't be surprised if the B'gals shop Henry around in the off-season.

Guy's got great talent, but insists on running with the "boyz". I think he's a candidate for the morgue...
