rockpile Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 You are becoming a star, Ken! click here Article from Rochester's City Newspaper
ExiledInIllinois Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 Cool article... They mention that the Jeffs were WNY's first NFL team??? What about the Buffalo All-Americans that were in the APFA/NFL to start in 1920 with the Rochester counter club? Here is the 1920 season record/standings: 1920: Game-by-game results Week Opponent Result Score 5 Rochester Jeffersons W 17- 6 7 Columbus Panhandles W 43- 7 8 Canton Bulldogs L 0- 3 9 Cleveland Tigers W 7- 0 10 Canton Bulldogs W 7- 3 10 Akron Pros T 0- 0 Seems the research I have found only has the Rochester Jeffersons playing only one game that year... Week #5 against the Buffalo club... 1920... Shows a Chicago Cardinals team... The same team that is the Arizona franchise today... Making them the oldest team still active. Packers came in 1921... Bears named in 1922 (when the APFA became the NFL) from the Decatur/Chicago Staleys in 1920/1921... So... Kudos to the Rochester Jeffersons and Buffalo All-Americans... And to the Packers and the Staleys Bears!
