Hello Everyone,

Long time SW Reader and new poster.

I was wondering if I could ask a couple of questions!!

I am going to be coming up to Buffalo for the Miami game next weekend and was wondering if anyone could recommend a hotel to stay at Sunday Night?

Also, I would like to take my girlfriend to Niagra Falls on Saturday - is there any thing special I need to go into Canada, ie Passport or anything? Is there big delays at the border coming/going?

Thanks in advance!

As far as border crossing, bring photo ID and original birth certificate (not a photocopy), or a passport. I am not aware of anything else needed.

Border delays are a crap shoot. Last time I came through at Lewiston the delay was about 30 minutes on a Friday night (back into the US).

Can't help you on hotels - check the Tailgating section of the TBD Forums.

Hope this was some help.

Enjoy the game! ;)

Welcome. I live in Cincinnati now, so I can't answer much. Don't know about passports, BUT do take enough $ to go on the Maid of The Mist, the boat service that takes you to the falls from below. Unforgettable.

Go on Goat Island, the land that seperates the American and Canadian Falls.

Be sure to go to Old Ft. Niagara on the American side, and visit the Robt. Moses Power Project, also on the US side and on the way to Ft. Niagara. The Bflo. Science Museum (in somewhat of a crime area unfortunately) and the Historical Society Museum in Deleware Park are tops.

The Albright-Knox Art Gallery on Elmwood Ave. opposite Buffalo State College is world-renowned.

Wings are fine - Original Anchor Bar is always a good spot. Don't miss getting some good Beef on Kummelwick - I'm sure others will direct you to some good spots. Parkside Candies on Main has great, old-fashioned ice cream sodas, sundaes, etc.

Get pizza from the local shops.

I guess that's a lot for a Saturday... ;)

Damn, Stuck. Are you trying to get k_gun to end up looking like that guy in the movie Seven?

I stayed at the Hampton Inn South on Ridge Rd., which was pretty close to the stadium (exit 55 of I-90).

I'd recommend you stay nearer the falls on Saturday night and nearer the game on Sunday night. There are a number of reasonably priced hotels on the American side of the falls. You can do a search on travelocity.com, orbitz.com, or expedia.com.

Good luck.

Goat Island is on the US side and you can get the maid of the mist on either side. On goat island there is aslo the cave of the winds where you can get close enough to touch one of the falls. There is a slicker that you get to keep. They also have tour trams that give you such an interesting history of the falls. Casinos are on both sides. I love going to the Falls. Dinner at the top of the Skylon revolving tower (Canada)is expensive but the view is breath taking and I think it takes an hour to go all the way around. You can be there the whole day and not be bored. They have colored spotlights and fireworks at the falls at night.

What's this about spotlighting coloreds? I don't remember that from last year. Is it a new practice at the falls?

Just another way for the man to hold me down. ;)

Hold YOU down?????????

Oh I ignore them, but I hear the taunts, and they cut me-right to my soul.

It's starts out with "Nice skirt," because they're too ignorant to know it's called a kilt.

Then you hear "Nice purse," but they don't know it's called a sporran.

Then it's "Nice tap-dance shoes," but they're called ghillie brogues.

Then they start in with the sheep-herder jokes and "The Drunken Scotsman" song lyrics.

It hurts man. It hurts bad...

If you are taking your GF, you should stay in Niagara Falls on the Candian side. Cross at the Rainbow Bridge. I've been to both home games this year and I haven't waited to cross more than 10 minutes either way.

To cross, if you are American, all you need is your driver's license. Any type of ID, including credit cards and the such will be counted if you need them. I haven't needed a second form of ID ever.

Canadian hotels are cheap as hell right now. You will pay a little more to stay over there on Saturday night. But remember prices are in Canadian, so it's cheaper in US money. On Sunday night, you should be able to stay on the Canadian side anywhere from $40 US to $200 US all at nice hotels. You'll have the whole place to yourselves on Sunday. It's great. Saturday, it's still pretty crowded.

Check out Infoniagara.com for all hotels and rates. www.choicehotels.com will get you a chain hotel at cheap rates also.

In the falls, go to the Skylon tower, Maid of the Mist, and the new Casino. Hell, just stay near CLifton Hill, and you'll have plenty to do.....then add in football, and the trip is like heaven.

Good Luck!

Try this. It might help.

Nobody knows the trouble I've seen

Nobody knows but Jesus

Nobody knows the trouble I've seen

Glory Hallelujah

Sometimes I'm up and sometimes I'm down

Yes lord, you know sometimes I'm almost to the ground

O yes, Lord, still

You got here before I do

O yes Lord, don't forget to tell all my friends I'm coming too

O yes Lord, still

Is this close enough?

Satisfied.

It was twelve days ago in a pub. Night was near.

I was on me fourth pint of their best Irish beer

When a thought quickly struck me of all I hold dear.

So I went on outside to the hill with my beer.

As for friends I've had many I ne're walked alone,

And a few were like family just as much as me own

They helped in times troubled and made happiness known.

And they gave me a young heart I've never outgrown,

Well, the evening was leaving and the sun said goodbye.

I thought of me past and I smiled with a sigh.

Oh, I had no regrets nay a reason to cry.

So I drank me beer down 'till the glass all was dry.

Well, I smelled all the flowers

I've left none to behind.

I've told more the truth than I've told fib or lie

And I hope when you find me in the hills where I'll lie

That it'll always be said that I died satisfied.

Isn't that money going to Canadaians when the big buzz is unemployment in the U.S.? ;)

Sure is. If some moron in Niagara NY, or in Buffalo would get with the 21st Century and develop what resources they have, IE waterfronts and natural wonders, people would stay on the American side.

But nooooooooooooooooooo, keep worrying about stuff that has been going outta business for years and unions. Yeah, that works nowadays. You'd think Buffalo, Pittsburgh and Cleveland would wake up.
