bbb
.....this is when I start thinking that the media really does have a totally liberal agenda. I know that our Buffalo News is a liberal paper, not only from the politcal columns, but all but one but one lifestyles, music, sports, etc. columnist has to constantly give me their political views when I'm trying to read about the Bills, or the latest albums, etc. So, they run this piece today about TV Land's 100 biggest TV phrases. And, politics is not on my mind at all. I figured that this would be interesting and I tried to guess at what some would be. I was surprised to see the JFK one early, but thought yeah, OK, that's big and I guess was on TV, etc. Then, as I keep going thru, I see there is about 7 or so politcal ones. By the 3rd or 4th one I start noticing, these are all either Pro-Dem or Anti-Repub. The "read my lips" is really really stretching it. And, "I"m not a crook" makes it why not "I did not have sexual relations with that woman" or "It depends what the definition of is is" If JFK's "what you can do for your country makes it" how can Reagan's "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall" not make it? This stuff really bugs me. Just be fair and equal about it, if you are going to get political at all, which I didn't even expect anyway..............And, where the hell is "Hellooooo, Newman" NEW YORK, Nov. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- TV Land counts down The 100 Greatest TV Quotes & Catchphrases in a week-long look at the memorable sayings from cartoons, television series, commercials and news programs over the past 60 years In alphabetical order, TV Land's list: • "Aaay" (Fonzie, "Happy Days") • "And that's the way it is" (Walter Cronkite, "CBS Evening News • "Ask not what your country can do for you ..." billfan63
Its funny you take offense to a stupid ass list by TVland. It wasn't long ago, during his funeral the media couldn't say enough good things about Reagan now their leaving him off a list that Fonzie's on. Chilly
lol, you're up in arms about this? Thats funny, I haven't heard that quote by Mr. Reagan since like 8th grade history class. JFK's is repeated/quoted/used all the time.
bbb
First, I'm not up in arms about this. I'm just sick of evey aspect of everything I read - sports, music, etc. being slanted to the left. You've got to friggin kidding me that the JFK quote is used all the time and the last time you heard the Reagan one was in 8th grade. Either you are in 9th grade or just plain lying. I've heard the Reagan one a heck of a lot more in the last 10 years or so than the JFK one. The JFK one is great, but so is the Reagan one. You want movie and music reviews slanted more to the right? And sports, and especially football, is slanted way to the right, really, as it should be. It's just that kind of sport. "Ask not what you country can do for you...." is not a left wing quote. It's rugged individualisim. Sure, JFK might have been a Dem, but that quote isn't liberal. You seem so politicized you can't see the forest for the trees. Put down the Rush Limbo for a few days and breath some fresh air. BTW, do you think commercials on tv and radio are biased? Did you read anything I wrote. I said I'm not up in arms about this. I said the JFK quote is great. But, so was Reagan's. Why have all negative quotes from the right and the one good one from the left. I'm saying can't I read anything in the News that is not slanted to the left. And, I don't know what you're talking about with the football thing. I've seen Felser and Sullivan give their left wing political views. I thought I could read a TV list that didn't have a slant to it. The News has one columnist - Mary Kunz with one column a week - who is right wing, and everything from sports to this list has a left wing slant to it. Bungee Jumper
Where's the "Where's the beef?"? I don't think the problem with the list is that it's left-leaning. I think the problem is that it exists at all. It's friggin' TV.

Its not really a surprise that you feel everything is slanted to the left. People who identify as someone right of center tends to think of the media as being too far left. Likewise, someone who self-ids as left of center tends to think the media is too far right.

Does that make people left leaning? I'd say not, I'd say it shows they care about their country. I'm not sure what you mean about Felscher and Sullivan, but feel free to show us sometime. How about the music and lifestyles comment you made? Want Rush Limbo to write movie reviews? Wouldn't that be a bore after the first two sentences? Remember when he said the 'Liberal Media' had built up Donovan McNabb simply because he was black? Is that the sort of stuff you are talking about? Again, go to the news and show us where you see this left wing conspiracy playing out.
