Buftex Posted November 24, 2006 Share Posted November 24, 2006 Has anyone else wathced the Showtime series "Dexter"? I must say, I have been pretty hooked on it the last few weeks (watched the first 8 episodes). It is kind of creepy, but pretty compelling. Without spoiling anything for anyone, the end of this past weeks was quite a shock...anyone else see it? It is rare that a tv show can throw me for a loop...what do you think? For those not familiar, the show is about a forensics blood spatter specialist, who works for the Miami police department. He moonlights as a serial killer, who only kills those that he knows are guilty of some horrnedous crime. Most victims are people who got off on technicalities, or even more, just get away with things. It sounds kind of far-fetched, but the genesis of his story, as it unfolds, is that Dexter was an orphan, adopted by a cop. We know that his genetic parents were involved in some sort of grizzly murder of some kind (they are kind of unfolding that story as we go along)...from early on, the cop realizes that his new son has some emotional problems, and starts to find dead animals around the house. Soon, he realizes that his son has the potential to be very dangerous to society, so he starts to "train" him to funnel his need to kill, toward those who escape more conventional justice. I may not be doing a good job of describing it, but I think if you watch one or two of them, you will get hooked. Like most shows, it takes a few episodes to hit its' stride...
