Workplace language/cursing

It's pretty funny here. There is a lot of swearing that takes place on a daily basis. There are rarely situations where people feel the need to censor themselves. The reason I ask is because I just got out of a meeting with our corporate lawyer, he's pretty much a big dog, and every other word out of his mouth was "!@#$." I thoroughly enjoyed our conversation and found myself firing the f-bombs right back. Seems very contagious. There is a woman here who has by far the worst mouth of anyone in the place. It's hilarious.

How is it where you work? No swearing? Only-when-angry swearing? Every sentence swearing? What do you think of it?

Lots here (Fire Station) but is expected. I personally am not a cumpulsive cusser, but I will talk to the level of my audience. Dosent bother me any, except when people from outside the FD come in the station.

Wow imagine that...swearing in prison...

My place is so clean its ridiculous. All cubicles, so you can hear across the room, and there's no swearing what so ever. Every great while someone will raise their voice, other than that it's pretty boring.

Constant swearing shows a lack of class.

They're just words.

"I can't wait to get the !@#$ outta here so I can drive my piece of schit car down to the homeless shelter in the schitty part of town, where I do volunteer work."

Classless?

Yes.

Just because someone does good deads it doesn't make them a classy person.

They're not just words, they're special words. Now, if a guy is dropping f-bombs every other sentence, it kinda dulls that word, IMHO. I don't swear much so that when I need a little something extra, I can bring it.

That's advice I got from my dad. He's a pretty sharp guy.

But saying !@#$in instead of fricken means they're not classy?

Hey, I didn't make the rules, I just live by them. Like it or not, we have norms in society, things that have been determined to be right or wrong whether there is a law against it or not. The majority of people in American society believe that swearing in public or excessive swearing is wrong.

Logically, should it be? That's up for debate. I've never understood why sh-- or fu@! is considered a swear word. Then again, why is cheeseburger the word for a beef patty and cheese between two pieces of bread? It's just the way it is. If enough people in America finally decided that these words were ok then using them would become the norm.

Swearing and vulger language is classeless.

Smokin let me guess you work at a smoke shop.

Sure I drop an f-bomb every once in a while when something falls on my foot or what not. But vulgar language is very much frowned upon at my work place. Of coarse we serve the public so thats a plus.
