Considering the heavy emphasis on the run and short passes, I can't remember a worse performance by the Bills OL. This wasn't a case of missed blitzes or stunts, just straight up every time they tried to throw the ball they allowed instant pressure by the man in front of them. Congratulations to the staff for playing to their teams strengths, but this OL has hit rock f'ing bottom.

DE's came in unblocked....

!@#$ing DE's....

and people want to say JP took sacks today....???

Exactly; Mathis was UNTOUCHED on that sacked that should have caused a fumble and on his 1st he got suck a good jump he beat Pennington out his stance. And WTF; Royal blocking Freeney on a key 3rd down. He should be out running a pass pattern!

It has never, ever been more clear than today for ALL to see that this team is an offensive line away from being atleast competitive in the league. Forget your JP haters/lovers, forget Willis, forget the run D. It's all about the line and this has been the issue since atleast 1995. This team needs two guards (maybe Reyes is one?) and a RT to be productive before they will be able to compete. While it's encouraging that they can play with teams, the recurring line theme is very, very frustrating.

Shh....DOn't say that....We need a Physical WR as per some of the folks here <_<

And for that, you can thank Marv, Modrak, and co. for not making the OL the #1 priority this past off-season... failing to set our young QB up for success as a result and leading to what looks like another wasted season. Come January, we STILL won't know if JP is the answer or not. <_<

Its the same sh-- every offseason.....Sign some back-up subpar OLine and hope they pan out....

Its time to spend some money on this line....

bring some solid vets in....and draft early Oline to develop....

This should be the plan the next two offseasons

It's not really about this past offseason. That is an unrealistic expectation to point at a single off-season. Offensive linemen need to be developed or picked up in FA, and we picked up a decent center in FA. We could have drafted one with the Mccargo pick , sure. We needed to be developing guys over the past 5 years and haven't.

Yep. Its particularly irritating that the Bills since Polian left the Bills have done very little to help the O-line no matter who the subsequent coaches and gm's have been. Its especially irritating when everyoine knows that it is by far the most import unit, which is why you can stick anyone in KC, NE or Denver's backfield and they become instant stars.

I remember a lot of people in here saying that it didn't make any sense to draft any OL on Day 1 last April, since they wouldn't be able to help this team this year (development time)...

This just in, Youboty, McCargo, and the extra 3rd round pick burned to get McCargo haven't done a damn thing to help this team this year... not at all. <_<

Youboty was a 4th rounder. And McCargo got hurt. That's like saying that the Browns signing Bentley was a waste. And after the Bills signed Fowler, drafting a center in the 1st wasn't going to happen.

I don't think Marv counted on Youboty's mother dying and missing all of training camp. He also didn't predict McCargo would have a season ending injury.

Youboty was a 3rd-rounder, McCargo when healthy did not impress at all, and Fowler is a scrub.

We could've drafted 2 with the McCargo pick if we didn't make the trade-up in the first place.

And this is exactly the point that posters miss.

I am not as upset as I used to get after a disgraceful display of blocking such as this. Marv is going to let Clements walk in 07 and draft a first round corner. Watch and see. This is all he knows.

We can only hope that when April 07 comes, he has enough coherence left to draft any players at all at non-secondary positions.

The saddest part is that the fans of the Buffalo Bills, and the good people of WNY are being short changed. We deserve management that is not egocentric nor senile. Until then, we will continue to be a disgrace; an NFL football team spinning our wheels and going nowhere.:D:(

As SDS said many years ago.....I am more a fan of Bills Fans than a fan of the Bills.

Why is Robert Royal blocking Dwight Freeney?

833958[/snapback]

Coaches must have thought with Freeney having only .5 sack this year that he sucks now.
