UConn James Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 He's slated to be confirmed by the lame-duck session, yes? As for the press conference in general, Bush seemed very tense. I've watched almost every one he's had in 6 years. Today, he was talking louder, more brusk, high-strung, and his voice was an octave higher.
RayFinkle Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Gates: "Speaking to you all again is a bit like being Larry King's newest wife-- I know what I'm supposed to do here, I'm just not sure how to make it interesting." At least he seems to have a personality.
VABills Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 You guys like him now. But his agenda is to up the number of troops in Iraq.

EC-Bills Posted November 8, 2006 Author Posted November 8, 2006 That should have been the way to go from the beginning. 829889 Shut it, generals don't have a clue as to what they are talking about
Peter Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 This is promising. Gates sounds like a pragmatist (as opposed to the neocons who seem to live in a bubble) Gates favors dialogue with Iran It really is a shame that we did not attempt any dialogue with Khatami when he was president of Iran. I really think that our failure to do so, at least in part, resulted in the election of Ahmadinejad.

X. Benedict Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 You guys like him now. But his agenda is to up the number of troops in Iraq. 829868 That's his agenda? Not a chance.
Chilly Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 He's the President of Texas A&M. I dunno if I can support the guy.
