No matter what happens

Just to ease those spitefull Bills fans who think and seem to want the team to move to LA, it aint gonna happen. Goodell can not move the team even if he wanted to. The loss of the team would be so destructive to the Buffalo economy, that goodell would be viewed as a destroyer of cities. Just like the Saints, the Bills will not now or ever be moved to LA. The league is not in the business of destroying economies, and they would never be able to escape that monacre if these teams were moved.

There are other teams with no stadium deals, less merchandising sales, less dedicated fans, and cities that could care less if they were there. Look at the Vikings, Rams, Raiders, or possibly an expansion team to fill that vacancy.

So stop being a stupid Bills fan by alwayse assuming the worst for this franchise. Its this bad karma generated by fans who expect to lose that is putting the jinx on this franchise.

There are those who think the team may move to LA, but i don't recall seeing anyone WANT the team to move. The league will not expand beyond the 32 in the forseeable future as it is a nice balanced number for teams. The Bills moving would not destroy the Buffalo economy at all. It would adversely affect the quality of life in the region but the economy would not be destroyed. As far as the NFL having a heart...see Cleveland. I do agree on the fact the Bills won't be moved. There are other more attractive teams that could relocate before Buffalo would.

Pro football teams don't add much to a local economy.

Your right the local businesses do not benifit at all from the influx of home and visiting fans for the 10 home games every season. Because none of the fans from out of town get hotel rooms, buy food, gas, refreshments, parking, and so on. They must not even pay sales tax on everything they buy. Not to mention the fact that the team dosn't generate good will, charity, and tax moneys for the city.

Yeah no benifit at all

In the grand scheme of things, the Buffalo Bills have a negligible impact on the Buffalo Niagara economy. Buffalo Niagara is ranked among the 100 largest economies in the world (it's true, hard to believe but true) with an annual economic output of $56.1 Billion.

The relocation of the Bills would be a blip on the radar tracking the regions bottom line.

Benefit: Yes, Substantial: No

The sales tax increase benefiting the B'gals is recently not able to cover the 450 million incurred debt for the new stadium. The stadium is sold out - the 5 or 10 thousand folks that show up from out of town don't come close to covering the indebtedness.

Look around the net...sports teams are luxury "feel good" entities. In a reversal of Spock's "Star Trek" words..."the needs of the few outweigh the needs of the many".

While I think your reasoning is not very valid ……….. I also do not think the Bills will NOT be moved to L.A. by the league. My reasoning is as follows;

We follow and support the Bills because we are “Bills fans”, the team sucks, they’ve sucked for quite some time, and even the most Pollyannaish among us realize they probably will suck for a number of years into the future. We haven’t competed for a playoff spot in years, we currently aren’t even competitive during the regular season, and we won’t compete on the playoff/super bowl level for quite some time …… but damn it all ….. they are OUR team and we support our teams through thick and thin.

If they were to move to L.A., where would the fan base come from? People of L.A. will not fill the stadium for the sheer pleasure of supporting just any NFL team …… They’re not going to jump on their new team’s bandwagon just because there are seats to be had. They are not going to buy the jerseys because they are such a pleasant shade of red white and light blue and dark blue and medium blue and silver (or what ever that other color is). If the new team was a winner …… maybe different …… if the new team had a “history” in the L.A. area …… maybe different. But a suck assed team, filled with players without household names ….. I think not. Moving the Bills to L.A. would be financial disaster for the team.

So who could be the prime candidate you may ask?????

How about the San Diego Chargers …….. they have a “history” (they started out life as the L.A. Chargers). Granted the fan base they would get from those days are in their late 50’s early 60’s …. But it is a connection none the less.

San Diego’s near proximity to L.A. (as opposed to Buffalo’s) says they probably have more locals that follow the Chargers than the Bills ….. local media coverage would also favor the Chargers bringing with it more player “name recognition”.

Last but not least …… the Chargers are simply playing better ball which would prompt more wagon jumpers to make the leap.
