ajzepp Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Glad to see that the early 80s was well represented. I loved the music in the early part of the decade, thought the mid to latter part was kind of gay with the exception of bands like GnR, U2, and Aerosmith.
ajzepp Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Worst. Decade. Ever! 824652 I've posted that sentiment a few time and usually get lambasted for it....glad to see at least someone else has some taste
rockpile Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 God, who made up this list! Take names - lock and load! I have seen some of the earlier shows and I guess if you... look only at pop and one hit wonders get really drunk only have taste in your mouth wear ear plugs get botox injections ...you could read off this list with a straight face. Some comments: Prince - 1999 or Purple Rain, not the Corvette Bangles - Hazy Shade of Winter is much better Kajagoogoo - are you tripping? There is some good music here, but only a little. I won't bother listing the people here who do not even belong on the top 500 list..... VH1's Greatest Songs of the 80s 1. Bon Jovi / "Livin' on a Prayer" 2. Def Leppard / "Pour Some Sugar On Me" 3. ajzepp Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 How did the B52s make that list?? 824671 I can't stand those fuggers
GoodBye Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 I can't stand those fuggers 824675 Yeah, that song makes my ears burn when ever i hear it.
rockpile Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 Yeah, that song makes my ears burn when ever i hear it. 824679 you are all right lana!
buckeyemike Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 This list is from an online survey. While I agree with some of the list, I don't agree with pretty much the entire top 10 songs. The best song of the 80s? "Run Runaway" by Slade, followed closely by Cyndi Lauper's anthemic "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun".
GoodBye Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 you are all right lana! 824684 Thanks, so are you.
EC-Bills Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 you are all right lana! 824684 No she's not. AJ has shown me the tapes and pictures
GoodBye Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 No she's not. AJ has shown me the tapes and pictures 824716 Don't listen to him.
EC-Bills Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 Don't listen to him. 824719 Don't get me started, I haven't even mentioned the letters

Lori Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 Wow. Looks like the playlist from my 20th HS class reunion earlier this summer... and that's probably how they defined "greatest": i.e., fun to dance to, had a cool video, etc., etc. Certainly not my Top 40, but it looks like a fairly representative sample. (Whether that's good or bad is up to you. )

Remember it was MTV that was "cutting edge" and VH-1 came in and offered the poppy/softer hits/side of the story... IMO
bbb Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 One hit wonders. How about: You Better, You Bet - The Who Pink Houses, Authority Song, Cherry Bomb - Mellencamp Synchronicity II - The Police Hang Fire - Stones No Surrender - Bruce On and on.
Wacka Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 Looks like a bunch of 30-40 year old women voted ( teens during the 80s)

I'd say worst LIST ever. Bon Jovi at #1? Puhleeze with the Jersey Cheeez.
