Okay so that sht was out of control. I've watched him for a long time now, but I was not expecting what I saw tonight. The only part I knew anything about was the rodeo as I read an article about it months ago where it said that he had to be escorted out by security because a riot was about to ensue.

Highlights:

- Funniest fcking scene...the jewish bed and breakfast. His face when he found out, and then the scene with the cross and the clutched money was too much. I died when he threw money at the "shape shifting" jew roaches!!! :w00t::huh:B-)

- The disturbing scene...this was a little much. That 69 sht was off the hinges. But when they ran in the elevator and they are stuck with the one guy and a rubber fist....jesus christ. Hilarious.

- The "Running of the Jew." Great way to start it off. The whole Kazahkstan part was pretty good, especially the jealous neighbor he sht on.

- The dinner scene...bringing the black prostitute, telling the dude his wife wasn't hot (she...uh not so much) and then shitting in the sack. WOW!

I thought the Pamela thing was kinda weak, but I guess they needed a way to tie the whole story together. But I have to ask opinion here, do you think she was in on it? It SURE didn't look like she knew what was going on, but I can't imagine how he didn't get in trouble for that sht. The marriage sack? :D Too much...

Let's hear it...

I'm laughing my asss off just thinking about these damn scenes....

I think the Pamela scene was the only one where it was a bit scripted. I agree that she didn't seem like she was in on it, but I can't help but think the chances that someone would be able to get close enough to put a fuggin LOVE SACK over her (LMFAO) are slim and none....she had to have been tipped off and in on it to some degree. But hell, who the fug knows?? lol

I was laughing pretty consistently through the whole first series of hometown scenes....I don't know why it hit me like it did, but I thought it was genius how he was describing the various things in his house, and then DOENS'T EVEN MENTION the damn cow in the corner!! You just see it as the shot pans right to follow him back outside. That is SMART filmmaking, IMO.

The part where he thought the guy at dinner was exposing himself as a retard.....omg.....LMFAO!!!

I also laughed hard when he met with Bob Barr and gave him the cheese....I couldn't believe Barr just bit right into it like it was nothing! I know you don't want to offend someone you think is a legit foreign journalist, but still! When Borat hit him with the "from my wife's tit" line, the expression on his face was priceless.

I was really fearful that the hype would ruin the film for me, but turns out there was no risk of that happening at all. You just can't say or describe anything about this thing that would ruin it for someone else....you just have to see him pull it off.

by the way, I don't know if you guys had the trailer for Reno 911 prior to the film, but that looks like some funny sheeaat too. I've never seen an episode of the series on comedy central, but I've heard lots of great things about it.

God bless comedy!!!

Wow, exactly the same thoughts. Never seen an episode, always see the previews and it looks kind of weak...but that trailer had a lot of potential. For a second though my heart skipped as I thought it might be a Super Troopers 2. :w00t:

lol, I know it, as soon as I saw the cop cars and the cop sunglasses, I figured it was ST2, also. I actually turned the first ST off after about twenty mins back a few years ago. I gave it another chance recently and thought it was good, not great. Definitely had some moments, but I stll didn't like it as much as other people did.

The Reno 911 preview looked really good, though....I did not expect the dude to fall INTO the whale B-):w00t:

I *loved* the movie. My favorite moment has to be when he sh-- in the sack. lmfao.

This instantly became one of my favorite movies of all time.

Did you guys get the same thing that my theater did? Ours was sold out, but only a few people in the theater laughed at the idiots making racists of themselves - it seemed like a lot of people didn't find it funny.

I actualy saw it in the afternoon (1:45) with mostly 30-somethings.....we were all laughing our asses off

And yeah, when he brought the sh-- sack downstairs to the table, omg.....LOL The whole thing was really brilliant, cause you know the guy got these people to sign the waivers before messing with them, which pretty much gave him carte blanche....man, did he ever take advantage of it B-)

It's so rare that a movie just really takes me by surprise....even though I knew the guy was nuts, I still didn't see half that sh-- coming :w00t:

Everyone in my theater was ROLLING the entire time. I did make two observations though.

1. It's funny to note the hypocrisy of some people. This older couple next to us laughed their ass off at every jew joke in the movie, but during the retard parts they were very quiet with the wife saying once "that's not funny." It's okay to laugh at potentially offensive jokes until they offend you... :w00t:

2. I hope this isn't the case, but I have the sneaking suspicion that a lot of the laughter in our theater was misguided. 75% of the audience had to be high school age and I sadly think that they were laughing because they thought it was funny how racist Borat was acting. I doubt many of them know of Cohen's ethnic background or have heard him speak about the inspiration behind his characters. I fear the satire was lost on many and the reason people laughed is because they are racist or intolerant themselves. But who knows? It was funny as sht...

Sorry to bring such a serious sentiment into a thread about the funniest two hours I have experienced in a long time. My experience was just partly ruined....

Speaking of "911" that joke in the beginning about not flying was one that few people in the theater got, but my roommate, who is Jewish, and I were literally grabbing each other and laughing horrendously when he said what he said.

The nudity scene was completely unexpected - I heard Cohen was nude in the movie but I figured he was just walking around or something, real quick, not a 3 minute "fight" scene with a fat naked man with man breasts and hairy ballsack in Cohen's face for at least 30 seconds! Add to that the running through the hotel, into the elevator, into the convention. Oh man. I had solid tears in my eyes throughout that whole scene. I can't wait to watch it on DVD so I can actually hear what goes on during that scene, it was too loud in the theater to actually hear anything. One of the funniest scenes in a movie I have ever seen!

I think a lot of the scenes were scripted. They had multiple camera angles in situations that were supposed to be "spontaneous". How could the bed and breakfast scene not be scripted? There's no way they did that in one take. Another example was the frat boy RV scene. There is no way a group of drunk frat boys remain completely oblivious to the camera for that long of a time.

Anyway, regardless of what was scripted and what was genuine improv, I still think the movie was absolutely hilarious. I really thought that it was going to be a big disappointment considering all the hype, but this really lived up to the hype.

The only thing I'm wondering is this, why did they censor Borat's package but not Azamat's? Is Cohen too famous to have his wang on the big screen?

You have to remember that Borat's people were contacting some of these folks prior to things taking place. They were presenting him as a totally legit journalist from Kazakstan who didn't understand the language all that well and was trying to learn more about America. The waivers were signed first in most of the situations, which then allowed for the cameras to be there.

many of the meetings were arranged in advanced. The dinner scene was part of the deal with the etiquette lady....if you or I had signed up for the class, we'd be given the same opportunity at dinner to "practice" what we'd learned.
