Just Jack
No, my parents gave our Atari 2600 to a store similar to the Salvation Army stores. Seeing this auction brought back some memories.

I almost made it an impulse buy a minute ago. BTW, the new Nintendo Wii (which comes out in less than 3 weeks) is supposed to let you download and play all the old NES, SNES, and Sega Genesis (!) games. It also costs less than half what PS3 will so I'm probably going to pick one up sometime next year.

They all still worked last time I checked except for the controllers, they always seemed to break on us I have a friend who has a ton of games for the atari in his basement and one or 2 of the systems. He even has an old arcade machine that he installed an Atari system into so he can play the games on the machine

Yet that's nothing as my folks have Pong in their attic and it still worked when tried it out a few years ago.
TheMadCap
I am currently in the design phase of building an arcade cabinet to house a MAME system. There are tons of emulators out there that run just about every system known. I am going to focus on MAME (which runs coin-op arcade games) for this one. Here's how it works: You connect the microswitches running the buttons, joystick, trackball etc, to a device called a keyboard emulator. The emulator can be programed to simulate key strokes. The emulator is connected to a PC which houses and runs the game. I think I am going to use spiltters so I can have a real keyboard for setups and downloading new ROMS for future expansion. Fun, fun, now if I can only save enough money to make it happen...

There's a used game store up the street that sells old NES cartridges for $2 a pop. I've stocked up on all of the ones I used to play as a kid: Castlevania, Mario 1 - 3, Ninja Gaiden, Final Fantasy.. the list goes on and on =)

/dev/null
Speaking of old Nintendo, there was this one old game I don't remember the name to. It was a Legend of Zelda type game, and actually not a bad game. The name had something to do with Crystals. The game itself was pretty cool but the music was annoying as hell. Dunno how i can explain it, but it was like "doe doe doe doe diddya yo doe doe, doe doe doe doe doe diddya yo doe doe....". Music was so annoying it used to make my dog bark at the TV

/dev/null
Conquest of the Crystal Palace? 824395[/snapback] No, I Googled that and the screenshots weren't what I remembered. That looked like a fight left->right type game. This game was a Zelda type adventure game where the character survived some kind of armageddon like a nuclear holcaust and was woke up later Damn, now this is gonna bug me

/dev/null
btw, you guys do realize there are emulator programs that let you play all the old Nintendo/Sega/Atari on your PC? You can download the emulator for free. You can also download the games for free but can only keep them if you actually own a copy of the game btw, just to give you an idea how far gaming has progressed, you can download all of the Atari 2600 games ever made and fit the entire collection on a floppy disk
