buffalobillsfootball Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 40-story office-hotel structure also would be most expensive At 600 feet tall, the $361 million, ultra-contemporary glass and steel office, hotel and condo tower would eclipse the HSBC Center in height by 33 feet and would rank among the tallest buildings between New York City and Chicago. New Buffalo New Buffalo 2 New Buffalo 3 Go Buffalo!
SF Bills Fan Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 I heard the rumors on this building weeks ago and then saw the news today. This is fantastic and a long time coming. There are lots of nice projects going on downtown now. Buffalo is turning the corner and making a good comeback.
bills_fan Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 That looks awesome!! I hope the local wanna-bes don't fug it up.
Alaska Darin Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Don't worry, the politicians and unions will probably kill it long before a shovelful of dirt is ever moved.

Heitz Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Such a good looking building too! Step back, Buffalo is becoming a modern city!!
RayFinkle Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 will you be able to see the new peace bridge from this building? 816968 yes, and it will also be within walking distance of the casino, just minutes from Bass Pro.
Chef Jim Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 will you be able to see the new peace bridge from this building? 816968 Only if they shovel the snow out of the way.
mead107 Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Don't worry, the politicians and unions will probably kill it long before a shovelful of dirt is ever moved. 816961 so you want people to work for $7 per hour or do you want the illegals doing the work ???
bills_fan Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 This may get done, simply because it is all private money that will build it.
Dwight Drane Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 It will be a great place for the Adelphia executives to lay their heads after all day meetings at their beautiful waterfront headquarters.
Dwight Drane Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 If they want a good cocktail, they should mosey on over to The Cloister.
Chef Jim Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 This may get done, simply because it is all private money that will build it. 816999 Yeah, and venture capitalists are lining up to invest $$ in Buffalo.
RayFinkle Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 I found a LINKY for another project the city is working on. Anybody hear about this?
daquixers_is_back Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 This is a hotel-office building right? I dont really see (other than visually) how this will "turn the corner" for Buffalo.
bills_fan Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Yeah, and venture capitalists are lining up to invest $$ in Buffalo. No, read the article. The guy plans to spend his own money to build this building. He already acquired the land (as part of the Statler purchase accross the street). So that hurdle is over. He plan to privately finance the thing himself. Pretty cool.

Commercial skyscrapers typically have tenants other than that where you come from?

I was all for putting a casino in Rochester, but I dont think thats going to happen.

Pretty cool. 817029 Chef doesn't need to read articles. He knows everything about Buffalo's dismal past, present, and future, and he does not let facts or potential good news get in the way of his disdain as he glares down at WNY's unwashed masses.
