This whole notion of the Bills owing the fans

Does everyone really believe that the Bill's owe them a good effort? I am really not on the same page as Ralph here - I think the players and coaches owe him, the guy signing the checks a good effort. That's business.

I think they guy who owe's the fans something is Marv and to a lesser extent Ralph. Marv's the guy who shopped for the groceries, (in parcell's speak), and Marv's the guy who selected the coach...Isn't he as much to blame as the unfocussed players? As for Ralph - isn't he the ultimate shot caller for the Bills? He should take ownership of the fact this team has been a perenial let down with no exit in sight.

Players should be praised when doing their jobs and disciplined when they fail...but to apologize - that should be Marv's and Ralphs gig...

If you go to a concert, does the band owe you a good performance?

Yes, because if they give me a bad or lack of effort performance, I will never see them again in concert, and bad mouth them to anyone that says they want to see them in concert, like Sheryl Crow.

This was back when she first hit it big, I think 1995. I'd seen a special on MTV with her a few weeks before the concert I had tickets for. One of those small, intimate gatherings, like the Unplugged specials, but it wasn't that. Anyways, her concert I saw, live and in person, was song for song, and word for word the MTV special, right down to the silly little banter you see bands do with the audience. No effort at all, it was like she was reading a script.

Now the other end of the spectrum is Bare Naked Ladies, they put an effort in to each of their shows to connect with audience.

And where does that money for the checks come from? It comes from teh fans so yeah it could be argued that the players owe the fans a legitimate effort because that's who's paying the bills.

I just think the players owe each other a good effort and everybody else can get bent.

Damn Rock, you're in your 50's? I'd have guessed 40's from the pictures. You must dress in air-tight cellophane wrapping;-)

I was going to see Freddie Hubbard at one of those free jazz clinics once and the show got cancelled. I bought tickets to a 2nd Freddie Hubbard show the next year. I sat through the opening act, not bad, Gil Scott Heron. Then Freddie's band came out and smoked on one tune. Then they announced that Freddie would not be performing due to a "sore throat" or some hogwash. I'll never go anothe concert of his or by any of his recodings. Dang, his record compnay owed me a better show!
