Dennis in NC Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Interesting that Merz started ahead of Preston. Yes, he is #2 LG and Preston plays RG, but I was still a bit surprised. Did any of you guys take a critical look at OL play today? I didn't hear his name called for penalties. I'm just looking for a glimmer of hope here, guys.
BillsFanForever19 Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 I thought he looked a lot better than I expected. It didn't seem like they missed a beat with him in instead of Reyes. When I saw mistakes from the OL, it seemed to always be Gandy or Villarial.
nick in* england Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 One play Merz came too far inside to help out Fowler, and didn't react quickly enough to the Blitz/stunt which ended in a sack. Over all he was OK. Gandy didn't exactly shine, but he was light years better than previous weeks, but he still struggles to lock down that outside edge. Villarial took his turn to blow goats today. Really poor display in the passing game. Fowler. Mr Matchstick arms. Can we get a solid OC from somewhere? Peters - hot and cold, but mainly hot.
Pirate Angel Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 I guess he held his own, got beat a few times and didnt knock anybody off the ball, but wasnt turnstile
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 He was blown off the ball several times--including once letting his guy go straight to JP for a sack. I also saw him make several great blocks in the running game. All in all, I thought it was a good first start for him--much better than I was expecting. The Pat's d-line gives everyone fits.
Reed83HOF Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 simply put...better than CV...better than Preston....better than Gandy (who wasn't awful yesterday)
