OnTheRocks
"Thanks for nothing State of New York!" Klein Steel Service Inc. CEO Joseph Klein, whose firm has been on the Rochester Top 100 list nine times, today was named the 2006 Business Person of the Year by the Small Business Council of the Rochester Business Alliance Inc. The award was announced at the 24th annual Small Business Council Gala Luncheon at Rochester Riverside Convention Center. The crowd of more than 900 heard Klein express appreciation for the award and credit his staff—and then launch into a rambling attack on those he holds responsible for making New York “not a fair, honorable state to live in.” New York suffers from high costs and meager benefits under its workers’ compensation system, a failed education system and a wide gap between the wealthy and the poor, he said. “Our young people won’t come back (after college) because they won’t find jobs,” he added. Among those he blamed were labor unions, lawyers and most of the state’s legislators, several of whom were seated at the head table.
kegtapr
Some of our sales people were at that yesterday. We all had a good laugh when they came back and shared what happened. Word is this guy has political aspirations, so it may be a little self-serving, but it doesn't make it any less funny.
