daquixers_is_back
This is probably old news by now, but did anyone see the contract that the Islanders gave goalie Rick DiPietro? Its a 15 year deal for 67 million dollars. Holy cow. Money aside, I dont know if I would want to be on a team for 15 years. Going on, the money is guaranteed so if he is cut or gets a career ending injury he will still get the money. The only way he doesnt receive the money is if he is retires. dib
Hmmm, it would take me over 1000 years to make that salary, and I work 40 hours a week. Well, I'm supposed to anyway.
I 90
It is cap friendly for the foreseeable future -- the only risk is for the super rich Wang. It looks like the NHL is allowing questionable injury buy outs so in the long run it is probably pretty safe as well. It looks more like an NFL contract than anything else. . Hmmmm the same Dipietro that made the US team last year. 808857[/snapback] And how did they do? Hmm.

And the freakin' NHL let the Devils get out from under the Mogilny contract, allowing them to field a decent team this year. The hard cap isn't so hard to beat. . I have a gut feel that the NHLPA will be singing the blues over that one come June or July or whenever the final accounting #'s come in. Mogilny's $3.5MM or so will be that much more that the players' total salary ends up exceeding their 54% of the pie and will be another ~$100k that every roster will lose from their withheld escrow.
