Marv on Anthony Hargrove

True they should be stock piling picks, but whats the difference between swaping one late round pick for a young player with some NFL experience. I would understand this comment more if they swaped multiple picks for him, but imo, swaping a 5th for a young player with a bit of NFL experience is pretty much a wash. Its just like drafting him in the 5th except he has real game experience

Right again. I think what I am doing is tying this in to the TD trades, as well as (what I consider to be) the 06 draft disaster.

In the short time Marv has been here, he has turned down 2 picks, and traded away 2 more. At some point, this becomes a trend; an alarming one at that for a team that needs to rebuild.

The patsies always seem to have a load of draft picks. The Cowboys were always built by them. In the last several years, we trade ours, and I am hoping that this stops at some point because it doesn't seem to be working.

Labeling trades involving draft picks as something you shouldnt' do is way over-simplifying everything. Each trade should be taken as an independent instance in and of itself. After that, if you want to put together trends, it makes sense to do so.

If Marv gets a productive player for each pick he trades away, how can you complain about that? A 5th rounder for Hargrove, in and of itself, seems like a very good move to make.

Ok, but what were the 2 picks he turned down? I know you are going to say one in a trade for the #8 spot in the draft. I would disagree on that just because no one knows for sure if there actually was a deal in place or another team making a serious offer. Its all been speculation by so called experts.

The only other pick he technically traded away was the one for McCargo because in return for the 5th he just traded he received a player so unless they cut him before the season is over, they really didn't lose a draft pick, they just got an experienced player instead of a rookie this season.

As long as he gets value for the pick or a decent player in return I don't see a problem. Picks are great for building depth and the future, so if they can get someone who can help now while they build for the future, I can't see a problem.

I heard Marv say on Sirius Radio that he was offered more than a 2nd by Denver to swap 1sts. He said that he had other offers, but I don't remember him stating what they were.

To his credit, he DID get us a pick for Moulds and it looks pretty good, which is my point.
