We lost to a team that hadn't won a game until us. It was pathetic. I thought that Jones and Williams were both hurt and wouldn't play this week from earlier reports, but I was wrong on that one. They both played and completely shredded our defense. Jones with 127 yards on the ground and 36 yards receiving with 1 TD, then Williams gets 10 catches for 161 yards and a TD. Those to guys alone made us look like a HS team out there. On offense, our woes continue with the line. If we had any resemblence of a decent OL, McGahee could've had easily 120-150 yards against that defense. He had only 66 on 17 carries and 21 yards came on 1 decent run. That leaves 16 more carries for 45 yards. 2.8 yards per the rest of the carries is sickening. On top of that we give up 5 sacks along with the constant pressure and lack of run blocking. And again we lose the "turnover battle" with 2 lost fumbles and an interception thrown versus picking off one pass. I was holding on to hope that the "rebuilding" process was a couple of years ahead of shedule and we might slide into the playoffs this year, but that hope was dashed by reality this weekend. When you lose your close games and then can't beat the teams you should, the only hope left to be had is that the younger players get the valuable game experience they need. Guys like Ellison, Youboty, Simpson, Williams, and Whitner should be allowed to play every down that they are physically able to do so. I'm throwing in the towel on this season. We'll probably end up 5-11 or 6-10 while being competitive in a few more games than the ones we win. Ahhhh well. The draft comes around again in April :(
