nick in* england
Just to make sure that those areas of the team that deserve to get a pasting get it, let's not forget that we haven't shown any ability to stop the run at any point this year..... the front 7 really aren't doing a great job. Deep2Moulds46
Im starting to think that the only elite player on this defense is Fletcher. Crowell Schobel, and McGee are very good....Whitner, Simpson, and Williams are too young to judge, and Triplett and Clements are drastically overpaid for guys who never get their names called on Sundays. nodnarb
I'm not a big fan of the 'small fast guys' approach to defense, and that's the course we've taken and it's going to be hard for me to like it. To be good in the Tampa 2 you have to have the perfect personnel at every position, and depth. We have neither. The Bears do it well because their defense is stacked with high draft picks and rare talents, all well suited to that type of scheme. The Colts are Manning strapped when it comes to the cap and haven't spent much on defense in a long time, and it shows. A neighborhood man and his four young sons could run on them. I'm particularly not fond of little guys on the DLine. I don't think they stand up to the long season of beating and they get pushed around by bigger guys when they man up. It's a scheme game with smaller bodies and when the other team has you by the nads there's little you can do to stop them from pushing you back. And it sucks. It was difficult to watch the Lions' backups pushing us around like that. We had more missed tackles than points, and you can't win like that. Granted, I still like this team more than I liked last year's team. I like Dick Jauron. I really do. But I'm not convinced that this is a sound recipe for a long-term winning team. I'm gonna need something to hang my hat on before I can believe. But HEY! How 'bout those sabres?
JStranger76
This scheme only works when you are ahead. Remember the Steelers beat the Bears down last year when they had the lead and controlled the game? You need an offense that can at least carry the load if we are gonna have a chance with this D.
