Guffalo Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Just got off the phone with my sister in law, They are in Kenmore. Buffalo and Ken-Ton schools have been closed already. About 4 inches so far, but heavy stuff, Power out all over Kenmore, roads closed. lots of trees downed by the heavy snow. PS My nephew from St Joes is bummed because the Canisius/St Joes game is this weekend and the rally and parade of cars is cancelled, a must do senior event for any Marauder/Griffin senior.

They'd heard a rumor about not getting power back until Monday. As of 11pm: Airport is closed. Kensington (Rt. 33) is closed. Most schools closed tomorrow. State of emergency in Town of Tonawanda, NT. No unnecessary travel in Amherst, Buffalo, City of Tonawanda. Driving ban in Lackawanna. Classic lake-effect band ripping through the northtowns, earliest ever on record.
gmac17 Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 the fact that the trees still have their leafs makes them much more prone to fall, and evidently there are trees down everywhere.
Hammered a Lot Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 just heard no power in much of the area, and trees going down everywhere. wtf!!! 803215[/snapback] I woke up from a nap a t 11:15PM to my wifes "ah zhit" as or 5 youngest maples still with leaves where bent to the ground due to heavy wet snow. There is only about 2 inches on the ground here in O.P.. As I was outside the sound of tree branches cracking and the power transformers across the street making voltage noises. It's only a matter of time that we will be include with the 100,000 other people without power here in WNY.
bbb Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 I have never seen anything like this - nuclear winter cannot be much different from what I just saw outside........crack crack crack - trees going down continually
