MadBuffaloDisease Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 From Today's Buffalo News... For all the Sabres fans who took gleeful jabs at the Hurricanes' inability to sell out some of their playoff games, consider this: The Hurricanes sold out their home opener against the Sabres before tickets went on sale to the general public, giving them a standing-room only crowd of 18,840. The Sabres, as of Thursday afternoon, still had several hundred tickets available for tonight's home opener against the Montreal Canadiens. What? It's the playoffs already?

Dan Gross Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 Well, the folks that did show up certainly got their money's worth. Wow, glad I decided to flip it on...nice gutsy performance by the Sabres!
Draconator Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 I had no clue that Stanley Cups were won by attendance numbers. Guess you learn something everyday.
Rubes Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 Complain all you want, but this tidbit from the Buff News pretty much says it all: The home season starts tonight, and although roughly 600 seats remained late Thursday for the opener, the team already has sold 647,175 tickets for the year. That figure exceeds the total sold all last year, 645,852.
Lurker Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 Complain all you want, but this tidbit from the Buff News pretty much says it all: 797566[/snapback] "Despite their success last season in reaching the Eastern Conference final, the Sabres' average ticket price of $30.07 is third-lowest in the NHL..."
