Okay, I know the Panthers' defense has been very disappointing, what do you think their longterm potential is, for this season?

The reason I ask is, I have the Eagles defense, which has been good, but not great...they haven't won me any games, and average a solid 13pts every week...I am 1-3, for the first time in what seems like forever, and every week I have lost, it seems, I have been killed by an eye-popping defensive performance (my oppenant got 44pts from the Falcons d last week!), or friggin' Jeff Wilkins' career day in week 1.

Now, I am not thinking of ditching the Eagles defense, but I am thinking it would be wise to pick up a good back-up defense, so I can play the mathcups a little more each week with my defense.

I have a pretty strong core of wr's, and Jeremy Shockey as my TE.

I am thinking of trading either Larry Fitzgerald or Anquan Boldin, along with Jeremy Shockey, for Todd Heap and the Panthers defense.

It may sound like a lot to give up, but you can only play so many guys every week. My reasoning for this trade:

Jeremey Shockey for Todd Heap is an upgrade. I have had Shockey three times now, and each time, he has had crappy seasons. He is normally injured, and is good for one, maybe two monster games per year, and a bunch of ho-hum games the rest of the year. To top it off, he has his usual nagging injuries, and is on the coaches sh-- list...I just feel like I got to get rid of the guy, before his value goes too far down....Heap seems to be developing a nice on field relationship with Steve McNair.

I flip-flopped, and traded for Larry Fitzgerald, when I really didn't need him, thinking he (or Anquan Boldin) would be great trade bait somewhere along the way. Do you have any strong opinion as to whether the Panthers' defense will return to what they were, or are they just bad? I have not seen Carolina play at all this year...
