Bremer - Not Enough Troops in Iraq

FWIW, I talk to my compadres on the ground fairly regularly.

What do they say?

I have spoken to some guys who have come back from Iraq, and they are pretty upset about the whole situation and disillusioned about why we were there in the first place. The level of anger was pretty high.

I suspect that the reaction probably depends on whom you talk to.

In any event, we have opened up a pandora's box.

I was against the war, but believe that we now have no choice but to create a stable Iraq as best we can.

It depends. There aren't many professional military people who want to go to war. There are even fewer who want to kick someone's ass and then stick around and help them rebuild their country - especially when the price is your own ass on the line every minute of the day. They understand the duty - they are professionals.

I can't say I've ever been real happy on getting back from an AO (other than the requisite "happy to be alive" thing). Killing people and/or watching your friends die rarely seems worth the distant future.

Yep.

Yep. As I have stated before, we won't know what the bottom looks like for at least 20 years.

No argument there. We can't send the same message that we sent in Somalia.
