smokinandjokin Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 He was probably thinking that with an extra first round pick, his team could get younger and better for the present and the future. With the Patriots' recent history of 1st round picks ('01 and later), how could he complain? 795595 A wise man once said, "You can't feed your family with Super Bowl rings...."
MadBuffaloDisease Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 I didn't say that. I'm simply noting that your claims that the Patriots don't pay big money for players doesn't fit with the fact that in the '05 off-season, the team committed big money to not one, but two players. Yes I mentioned Brady and Seymour already. Also, I notice that you conveniently ignored Rosevelt Colvin's sizable contact, and the fact the Patriots were willing to commit $20+ million to Derrick Mason in the same '05 off-season in which they committed big money to Brady and Seymour. Colvin got a 6-year $20M contract. The Bills gave Spikes a 6-year $32M contract. As for Mason, got a link to the Mason offer? I'd be willing to bet it was similar to what Branch rejected, i.e. a contract that looked good on the surface. In any event, implying that team doesn't foolishly throw around money is hardly an insult. Hey, I hope they keep to it. He was probably thinking that with an extra first round pick, his team could get younger and better for the present and the future. With the Patriots' recent history of 1st round picks ('01 and later), how could he complain? How could he complain? A proven WR who won SB MVP for a 1st round pick who is wholly unproven, recent history or not? For WHOM are they saving this money? Their 1st round picks?
Hollywood Donahoe Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Yes I mentioned Brady and Seymour already. So it's as I said then - the Pats don't give big money contracts, except when they do. Colvin got a 6-year $20M contract. You're off by almost $6 million. As for Mason, got a link to the Mason offer? Only my memory. If I recall, it was widely reported that Mason took less from the Ravens because his wife wanted to live in Baltimore, and his Ravens contract was reported as 5 years, $20 million. Hey, I hope they keep to it. Do you hope they keep winning the division as well?
MadBuffaloDisease Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Regardless of what they gave Brady and Seymour, whether Colvin got $20M or $26M, and how much they allegedly offered Mason, it is immaterial to what they'll be offering a guy like Koppen versus what OTHER teams will be willing to offer him. Players have been leaving the Pats in droves the past few years, and in one case, over $500K in guaranteed money. All the while, Brady makes comments like "I wish they didn't have to leave." And as for winning the division, enjoy while it lasts, which won't be much longer. YesI know, another prediction.
Hollywood Donahoe Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 And as for winning the division, enjoy while it lasts, which won't be much longer. YesI know, another prediction. Admitting you have have a problem is the first step to recovery.
EndZoneCrew Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 HD...will you stop quoting everyone.....I have a headache!
Hollywood Donahoe Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 One guy I'd want the Bills to take a look at, depending on his physical, is C Dan Koppen of the Pats. You KNOW that the Pats won't pay him a lot of money. As a result of this post, I expect Koppen to ink an extension any day now. Bump.
TigerJ Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Arizona is not thrilled with Davis at the moment, so he will be cut loose. I wouldn't mind signing him, but he may be awfully pricey. I read somewhere his current salary is over 9 mill. I don't know if that's going to come down, but if it doesn't it may be too much for a right tackle. Darnell Dockett would be a terrific penetrating type DT if Buffalo is looking for one at that point. I presume McCargo will be fine and the Bills like Larry Tripplett though, so Dockett might be a luxury the Bills can't afford.
John from Riverside Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Admitting you have have a problem is the first step to recovery. 795827 I dont even bother arguing with Hollywood....we need for our team to show they can beat them when it counts before I do that..... The pats deserve their due

That is if you don't count self inflicted man orgasims. Now would be a good time to shut up.
MadBuffaloDisease Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 As a result of this post, I expect Koppen to ink an extension any day now. Bump. Yeah, I saw that. Friggin' Koppen! I heard they gave him a deal worth $4M a year, but I don't know the structure. Pretty rich deal for a center. I guess Brady being incensed over Branch et al made the Pats take notice.
Hollywood Donahoe Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 I guess Brady being incensed over Branch et al made the Pats take notice. Oh, I'm sure. After all, we all know that the Patriots under Belichick and Pioli have a history of making reactionist personnel decisions.
MadBuffaloDisease Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Oh, I'm sure. After all, we all know that the Patriots under Belichick and Pioli have a history of making reactionist personnel decisions. And a a result of tat, they've lost a lot of good players and aren't the same team they once were. But $4M a year is on the high-end of what I thought Koppen would get on the market. So call it what you will.
Hollywood Donahoe Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 And a a result of tat, they've lost a lot of good players and aren't the same team they once were. Do you ever learn?
MadBuffaloDisease Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Do you ever learn? Let me know when I'm wrong on this one, HD. I'll be waiting (and waiting, and waiting...).
Hollywood Donahoe Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Let me know when I'm wrong on this one, HD. I'll be waiting (and waiting, and waiting...). You really need to stop making predictions. (and this all in a span of six days!)
MadBuffaloDisease Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Hmmm, that was 1 OC, 2 DC's, the most clutch kicker in NFL history, the NFL leader in post-season sacks, and a good WR's corps ago, HD. What about my prediction LAST year? You have That saved? Like I said, let me know when I'm wrong on this one, HD.

The OC is failing to live up to preseason expectations at Notre Dame. The 2 DCs have coached their teams to a combined 3-7 record. The kicker is sitting injured on the bench. The sack leader is being hampered by injury. The 2 most prominent WRs from that "good WR's corps" have combined for 13 catches and 184 yards this year. Have you ever considered, MDB, that Belichick and Pioli might just be smarter than you? What about my prediction LAST year? You have That saved? Yes, as a matter of fact. You didn't see the Pats rolling the AFC East last year, eh? A 5-1 record - with the one loss coming in an all-but-intentiaonally-tanked season finale - sounds like rolling to me. Like I said, let me know when I'm wrong on this one, HD. Is now good?

Is now good? 803222 I still respect New England as a team that can make the playoffs. If a team can do that anything can happen. I just think your reaching on a lot of these points. -Anything short of a National Championship this year is failing to live up to expectations for Weiss after last season. Still a long way to go, they still play USC. -The two DC's have marginal talent to work with, and are off bad years. The Jets even overachieved at times this season. I will agree that out of all your points this has the most merit, but not because the DC's are incompetent, it’s because of BB. - AV being hurt doesn't discredit him. Players get hurt. Few times can we say with certainty that if a team lost a player outside QB they wouldn't have won the SB. That feeling you'll have when New England attempts it's first game winning kick is AV mattering. - Branch didn't play at the start of the year, and is now transitioning to a new system, on a team who' shortly after trading for him had a bye. Who's throwing to Givens again?
BuffOrange Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Schaub is on my Madden team...pretty good. Jared Allen would be nice.
