"it" means winning in my book.  Brad Johnson had some good years with the Deadskins, then he went to TB and won a Super Bowl.  Last year he took over at QB for team (Vikes) that was in the tank and led them to the brink of the playoffs.  This year they're 3-0.

Trent Dilfer took TB to the NFC Championship where they lost close with a questionable call at the end negating a 1st down deep in Lamb territoy.  Then he went to Baltimore and won the Super Bowl.  The next year stupid Baltimore replaced him with Elvis and they sucked.

It's hard to argue with results.

The Vikes are 2-1, but I hear what you're saying. I guess I view the mystical "it" as being more than bringing home the W (although I'd certainly take that in a QB). Never in my life have I heard a fan exclaim, "I can't wait to see what Dilfer does today." Same goes for Johnson. Both have been, at times, productive cogs in well-oiled machines -- Johnson moreso than Dilfer. Neither have ever excited anyone.

It's just a difference of opinion, but I understand where you're coming from.

Whatever "it" is, it was obvious Kelly had it from his first start...JP, I think, is developing "it"...JP was not as far ahead in his development, when he came into the NFL (why some people criticized the pick in the first round), and his first two seasons were pretty much a waste.  What we are seeing now, is what we should have been seeing last season, from Losman.  His coaches, last year, stunted his growth, or so it seems...we haven't seen his best yet.

Kelly had a couple exciting, "Mouse" Davis coached years in the USFL before it went bankrupt, facing many players who became starters in the NFL. He had a chance to get a lot of experience in San Antonio.

His first game in Buffalo was a shootout loss, but he was CO-MVP with Ken O'Brien. :D Even though the Bills lost, you could see Jim Kelly just ran out of clock time.

The jury is out right now for JP, and I really hope he can become what we want at QB. The alternative is more rebuilding. :w00t:

This is the point that always gets me with guys like HA and JDG. You are absolutely right that the jury is still out on JP. We don't know. We can guess, we have glimpses, but we aren't 100 percent sure either way with the kid.

However, the one thing that is crystal clear, despite what HA and JDG may argue, JP is clearly the best QB ON THE ROSTER today. Better than Holcomb and Nall for what this offense demands.

So, if that's the case, there is nothing a fan can do but watch JP go and hope he develops. Because really, what is the alternative? Just more rebuilding as you pointed out.

Excellent point, Rock.
