Critical but stable condition after having his ruptured spleen removed. Received blood transfusions. He played through the injury though, sorta like eric lindros a few years ago (collapsed lung, if i remember correctly?)

well he hasn't lived through the night yet, but i'm sure when he's not critical anymore they'll assess his injury in terms of football.

This is the first report I saw. The Bucs are denying that Simms is in critical condition, but it sounds serious.

The bastards at profootballtalk.com tried to paint him as someone who was afraid to get hit after the Ravens game.

 

This kid sounds like he is tough as nails.

 

I really hope that he is ok.

Really.

 

IIRC, the spleen in addition to it's lymph system duties, provides some kind of protection against bacteria that if left free, rapidly cause a deadly septicemia. Let alone internal bleeding.
