JimBob2232
http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_4377180 Former Denver receiver Darius Watts worked out in Detroit and former Denver punter Micah Knorr worked out in Buffalo this week. ...I dont get it. Unless perhaps we are hoping he can be a kickoff specialist.
In space no one can hear
Often times these tryouts are nothing more than favors to agents who are basically trying to get their unemployed player a job in the NFL.
ans4e64
As i recall he can punt and kick, and i think we are looking for a kickof specialist. I remember thinking and mentioning to a buddy how terrible Lindell's kickoffs were.

I remember thinking and mentioning to a buddy how terrible Lindell's kickoffs were. 783231 That would probably mean cutting the long-snapper. Considering Lindell's improvement since Schenck (sp?) came on I would think this would be a mistake.

I remember thinking and mentioning to a buddy how terrible Lindell's kickoffs were. 783231 Lots of Lindell's "short" and "terrible" kickoffs are by design. Kicking the ball higher and shorter gives our coverage teams more time to get down field, and less time for the returner to get a head of steam. Results = better KO coverage. Seeing how we have had the best ST in the league the past few years, i wouldnt mess with it.

VABills
Time to cut moorman and save on the cap. Hell who need a guy who can only get 4 out of 6 inside the 10. Nothing less then perfect is acceptable. On top of that he was terrible the week before. Cut him Marv.

These positions are arguable the most important on the field. I'd like to see more teams going 2nd and 3rd string with punters and kickers. It's only 6 roster spots. TigerJ
Bflodan is right on this one. Don't read too much into this. The only thing I might add is that players get hurt, even punters. The personnel department of a team would not be doing its job if they didn't have a database of players who could be signed in an emergency at every position. Unless perhaps we are hoping he can be a kickoff specialist. 783176 Lindell's kickoffs haven't actually been that bad this season. In NE he made it well into the endzone on 3 separate kicks. Last week his kick offs were shorter, but that was probably to look out for W. Walker. I really hope steve in MD is incorrect about Moorman though. I mean, I don't know what his cap number is and I realize he's only a punter, but he's one of the truest Bills we have. macaroni
In keeping with ol' TD's phiosophy ....... if Place kickers are a dime a dozen ..... what the heck does that make punters worth?????? Four or five cents a dozen??????

The personnel department of a team would not be doing its job if they didn't have a database of players who could be signed in an emergency at every position. BINGO! I believe we have a winner! If Moorman goes down, then what? Hopefully the Bills don't bring in that schlepp they had in training camp. If you aspire to be a good team, and especially a team that prides itself on their special team play, then you damn better have a great deal of data compiled on players who are out there and whether or not their skills are compatible with what the coaches are trying to put together as a team. For a punter, they might include... directional punter?, 'hang timer', a 'blaster', tackling ability, athletic ability, holding for placements, potential to use on kickoffs, potential as a backup kicker, do they have the ability to run or pass out of punt formation, etc., etc., etc. I don't know if there is a more complete punter in the NFL than Moorman. He's a FG holder, a threat to run or pass, smart, good at hang time, direction and can blast the ball. He's the backup place kicker too. So, the Bills are only doing their homework in the event that Moorman goes down. That's a good thing, not a bad thing.
