eball Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 In the fourth quarter of the Pats game, the Bills stopped a third-and-7 situation when rookie safety Donte Whitner recognized a blown assignment before the snap and told rookie linebacker Keith Ellison to cover the tight end instead of blitzing, as he was supposed to do. Ellison covered the tight end - not great but well enough to force an incompletion in the end zone - and the Bills forced a field goal. "He bailed us out on that one," Fewell said of Whitner. From this article on the front page. That's a rookie, in his first live NFL regular season action, in case anyone forgot.

Bob in STL Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 That Marv is surely too old to make good decisions on draft day
NotStuckonStupid Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Whitner was a modrak pick no doubt about it. IIRC modrak did the same thing when he was in Philly.
Fan in San Diego Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 He was a reach. We picked him too high. 781588 <sarcasm on> Damn Mav for reaching that high ! <sarcasm off>
SnakeOiler Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 We coulda had Leinart. Wouldn't you rather see Paris out at the Ralph this Sunday, than have some dude who likes to boss around our LBs ?
John from Riverside Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 The captain of the secondary as a rookie..... With each passing day I get more and more excited about this team....
billsfanmiami(oh) Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 !@#$in' hold out. 781916 Yeah what a b*tch. He needs to get in here and learn that playbook so he doesn't blow assignments and stuff.
VABills Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 I remember the play but for some reason I thought it was Simpson who called it out, guess I was wrong. But yeah I thought it was a damn good heads up play.
Nostradamus Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 We coulda had Leinart. Wouldn't you rather see Paris out at the Ralph this Sunday, than have some dude who likes to boss around our LBs ? 781851 The answer to that is yes, for all the wrong reasons.
pdh1 Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 he is so much better then wire and bowens.... 781592 Does Bowens sit when he is healthy? I was at the Carolina preseason game and he looked really good till he got hurt. Not a bad place to be, depth at safety!
Stanley Lombardi Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 We coulda had Leinart. Wouldn't you rather see Paris out at the Ralph this Sunday, than have some dude who likes to boss around our LBs ? 781851 Sen-friggin'-sational writing!

He handles the media great, especially as a GM. This organization good be really good, really soon. There is alot of wisdom and experience up top now. Playoffs would be a great motivator for next year, and not bad for the 4 youngest team in the league. Only '2' players over 30, and one out for the season.
