VABills Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Um, that's what we do with our #2 CB on kick-offs and that works pretty well for us. As far as Parrish goes, I am still waiting for him to impress me, it just hasn't happened yet. 770648 He's young, he' still learning. He lost most of his first year to injury. You have to give him a chance to develop. He is going to make rookie mistakes until he gets a full season of starts under his belt.
Mickey Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 He misplayed that punt for sure. Yet, keep in mind that he was the leading punt returner (or one of the leading punt returners) in the league last year . 770080 Is that a stat based on just his return or our avg. punt return as a team? I seem to recall that he didn't return punts for the first half of the year. I think Freddie did that work for part of the year.

If he hasn't learned enough to catch punts, then he shouldn't be in a game catching them. That being said, I would reserve judgment on that issue and defer to the decision of the coaches who know best if he has a problem or if that was just a fluke that happens once in awhile to the best of them.

That is the exact same excuse people have been using for Losman, Gates, Haddad, laud, etc.... , etc... etc... for years. And how many ever really work out?
nobody Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Clements is gone after this year anyway - the Bills might as well get their money's worth out of him! And of course Parrish misplays the ball - Parrish is a punt returner not a punt catcher.

I guess all good playes are just good players naturally and never need time to develop.

Kind of like Witner, while he may not have been perfect he showed enough to prove that he will be good someday.
generaLee83 Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Think about what you are saying. You want to give our #1 , pro-bowl quality CB the ball and have him run at large fast football players looking to rail him. 770201 I dont think he's our number 1 anymore. He missed several tackles yesterday because he doesn't tackle at the waist, he merely dives at the ball carriers feet. This is just carry over from last season, he's really began playing badly. He was very dissapointing yesterday for once again declaring himself to be the best CB in the league (this months Shout)
pkwwjd Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 And I DO NOT want to see him wearing #11 anymore. Sheesh - someone should make him change it. For all we know, wiping #11 off the Bills backs forever may be the only thing keeping them from winning the Super Bowl! At any rate, it's worth a shot! 770663 Yeah ... the curse of Dan Manucci kept us from winning those first 4 super bowls ...
Mickey Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Not only that but it seems alot of folks on this board think that 6 or 8 games in the NFL is plenty for a rookie to prove himself. Give him a full season then complain. 770639 I haven't forgotten, I'm just worried that Roscoe might not be any more sure handed than Clements. Nate was a good returner but he just dropped too many. I hope we don't have the same situation with Roscoe.

Figuring when that point has been reached is why coaches work long hours, have many gray hairs and get the big bucks.

Tom Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 I DO NOT want to see him fielding punts again. I know he's freaking fast but at the end of last year and yesterday he's misplayed too many. Agreed.... get him the hell outa there! 4th or 5th WR only!
The Dean Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 I'll sing "I'm a little teapot" if it puts 30 lbs on him... 770287 Think that might slow him down a tad?
