I haven't looked at all replays, but my initial thought was that Losman was able to cross the goal line when he got tackled. His knee hit inside the end zone, but I was positive that the ball was over the line. I thought I saw a replay that validated it.

Anyone else see it that way?

It's not really a whine about the call, but more to know if my beer stained eyes were right.

No they (your eyes) were wrong. I rewatched that several times, hoping to see if we should contest the call. No he clearly was in the endzone with the ball.

I think it was a safety, too. When it happened live I thought he was out of the endzone. When they showed the replay I thought they made the right call. What I dont think was the right call was Fairchild's. The receiver routes took way too long to develop. And calling a 7 step drop from the 8 yard line on 3rd and 11 was just too risky. JP needs to get rid of the ball though. I am not sure I accept his explanation that he thought he could elude one guy (which he did) and then get it off (as soon as he eluded the first there was a second). You had to figure they would blitz on 3rd and 11 at the 8 and pressure him.

Pressure is one thing. Absolutely no protection due to your OL getting it's ass kicked on a play is another.

Although I see your point KTD, I am going to take the kid's back wrt this play. ;)

To me that's an acceptable way to play anywhere except in your own endzone.

I thought the biggest problem on that play was that even though they were in a two-back set, they released both guys out of the backfield and didn't keep either one of the backs in to protect. ;)

You forgot to take into consideration that in Foxborro, the endzone extends all the way out to the 1 yd line for the Pats. (They also only have to get only "over 9 yards" for a 1st down.) "Just give it to 'em" ;)

i thaught so at first, but the replay clearly showed the entire ball was inside the endzone when he hit the ground.

the only thing i can say about it was that he could have ran forward and gotten tackled at the 1, bu instead ran sideways and took the safety.

but the penalty on teh kick return set the whole thing up.

plus it seemed like the wr's ran some long routes, although it did look like WM was open in the middle of the field for a dump off. Unfortunately our line imploded so fast, JP didn't see him.
