Lurker Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 the only thing he did well was look good gaining 10 yards on 3rd and 16. 759924
firstngoal Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Loenard WAS cut. 759918 My Bad!
jarthur31 Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 They cut Gates and kept Thomas because he is one of "Jauron's Boys" Shaud Williams deserved to make the team...all he does is keep the chains moving when he's in there. Rashad Baker and Eric King should have made the roster...Coy Wire and Leonard should have been cut. 759913 I SO agree with you there!!! Baker and Gates were a small surprise for me but Liam was a major surprise! Doesn't he have PS eligibility left? Is he really that slow?
firstngoal Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Just a bit of a guess...but Baker may have been cut because he may have gotten into a little trouble lately and didn't fit under Marv's umbrella of good characters.
nodnarb Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Extremely surprised that baker and gates were cut. I thought Gates looked better than AT. Wow. And Both hunter AND odom cut...we are THIN THIN THIN at LB, folks.
beerme1 Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 I will miss Lauvale Sape. I'm glad somone sees there is no talent in Greg Jerman. And I have no problem at all that the A train stays and Gates is gone. Train can do more for us.
cåblelady Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 I thought Gates looked better than AT. 759935 Me, too.
buffaloboyinATL Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 I guess we're not planning on passing to our Fullback this year because Shelton has dropped almost everything thrown his way and he still made the cut. Maybe someone else releases a FB that can catch and block.
cåblelady Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Train can do more for us. 759936 If he holds onto the damn ball.
Rico Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 The Sapester has been cut before & brought back, so it's not over yet.
The Senator Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Like many, surprised that Wire stays and Gates is cut. My guess is that Matt Bowen's injury forced us to keep Wire a while longer, and cost Gates a spot on the roster. Nothing else too shocking, that I can see.

Gates may have been a surprise cut but IMO had zero to do with Wire or any other position for that matter. You only need three RBs for sure.
nodnarb Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 why 53, by the way? I wonder how long it'll be before teams pitch for 55 in hopes of a compromise at 54. Many good football players are on the waiver wire.
daquixers_is_back Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Isn't it awesome how we all know more than NFL coaches/Gm's/scouts who watch hours of game and practice tape ...

Many good football players are on the waiver wire. 759952 I never truly understood why you don't dress all 53 for that matter. Is there any legitimate reason for that?
Kelly the Dog Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 I liked Wilson and hoped he would make it, but seriously, he wasn't going to get into any games unless two WRs got hurt. So even though I would have liked to see the kid make the team, we likely never would have seen him play much.
Nanker Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 I never truly understood why you don't dress all 53 for that matter. Is there any legitimate reason for that? 759956 It's a cost efficiency move put in by Tagliabue. They get a League-negotiated discount at the Dry Cleaners for 53 sets of uniforms. Keeps ticket prices down.
kasper13 Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Coy Wire is this generations Mark Kelso. No reason he made the team again other than special teams. Thin at Safety and MLB. Injuries there would hurt badly.
cåblelady Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Willis is going to play third downs. 759950 Cool! I didn't know that. I used to hate it when they put in a different back for 3rd down.
