exactly....

PRESEASON=0

they are still tied with Dallas, NYG, and Philly

I've also seen kudos in other posts going to our assistant coaches for last night's PRESEASON game. WTF? I don't feel comfortable criticizing or praising before week 1.

Of course the preseason=0 when only viewed as a W/L outcome compared to the regular season. It also means nothing in determining post season appearances.

I think what Kelly the FBD is trying to convey here is that there were very few (if any) high points/highlights to the Redskins preseason.

Pre-season is important for a few things, like developing teamwork, developing depth players and is also just for general analysis of newer players in somewhat real game situations.

0-4 is no big deal in the preseason if one can view their team and feel that players developed, teamwork emerged etc. If Washington went 0-4 because they didn't take the preseason even remotely seriously I would have grave concerns for their organization and motivation.

If coaches and assistants didn't feel comfortable criticizing or praising before week 1 then no cuts would be made and the depth chart would get all out of whack.

Preseason camps and preseason games are for the soul purpose of assessing players abilities and forming a team.

this is so true. But you don't need to win and even have good offensive numbers in Preseason to evaluate and build your team.

I agree ByTor2112, I guess I think that it's good for the individual players level of motivation and self image to put up some decent numbers and feel that they contributed towards a winning effort or at least an effort to improve.

Of course I will accept the possibility that the preseason is generally viewed as "not very important" by the players. I don't know anyone tied closely to an actual NFL team so I probably shouldn't speak so rigidly in my opinion.

The Redskins are going to be terrible this year.  My bro-in-law is a big NYG fan and is concerned about the 'Skins.  I think they are going to suck.  Eagles win the division, Giants get a WC.  Cowboys will follow Bledsoe's lead and remain inconsistent- look great in a win, look terrible in a loss- we know the drill...I see the Skins in last place at 6-10.

I tend to agree with you on all of that.

By now, the stats are familiar. The last time Gibbs went 0-4 in the exhibitions was 1982, the season he won his first Super Bowl. Al Saunders, the assistant coach in charge of the offense, has lost 10 straight preseason games, including his last six in Kansas City, which would appear to back up his statements that he uses the August games to test certain plays rather than concentrate on putting together lasting drives
