Rico Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Care to recommend some starter albums for me? 756646 IMO I'd start here if the bidding doesn't get out-of-hand. Then I'd get the studio catalog in order from Hunky Dory to Let's Dance... folowed by Space Oddity, Man Who Sold The World, and Stage. Hard to argue against Ziggy Stardust being his best, but I don't play it anymore; my favs are Station to Station & Diamond Dogs, followed by Aladdin Sane, Low, & Scary Monsters. I can't speak too much for his later material, other than the next 2 albums he did after Let's Dance (Tonight & Never Let Me Down) really sucked & I stopped buying his stuff.
Fan in San Diego Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Suffragette City by Bowie...one of my all time favorites! 756684 Ahhh ! Wham Bam thank you mamm ! Classic stuff !
NotStuckonStupid Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 This has to be the best live bowie out the. the soundtrack from Ziggystardust. There is a remastered version that came out in 2004-5. thats is just great. It ranks as one of the best live albums around.

Only you have to agree to allow me to send you a few bucks for the trouble....SDS was nice enough to burn me some stuff from the band Triumph and I had to get to the point of threatening that I'd send the money to a dolphins message board. Bastard still didn't take it, so I'm NOT letting that happen again. If you are really willing to go through the trouble to send me a copy of that, that would be totally awesome....but dammit, you're going to take a few bucks for the trouble. Deal?

What a damn good record. "Queen B word," "Oh! You Pretty Things," and "Changes." All classic tracks. I definitely dig "Low," also. A really commercially underrated record. The other record from that Berlin period ("Heroes") -- also very good. I'm not sure how Weezer got mentioned in this thread, but for the record I love their second album (it's like the Pixies but even more tuneful), really like the first, and find all the rest to be simply atrocious.
