The Dean Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 Maynard played with, and helped the careers of, many jazz greats. RIP MF.
The Senator Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 Maynard played with, and helped the careers of, many jazz greats. RIP MF. 751105[/snapback] Including Buffalo's own Bobby Militello. The musical world has lost a great one in Maynard Ferguson. Requiescat in pace.
buckeyemike Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 He performed at my high school in 1985. Buddy Rich did the same about a year earlier. Now they're both gone. RIP. Mike
USMCBillsFan Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 He's the reason I played trumpet in school. RIP Maynard.
Marv's Neighbor Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 He used to play at the Crystal Ballroom at Crystal Beach! Those were the days. May he rest in peace.
Matt in KC Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 He was an inspiration to me when I played trumpet. Maybe somewil play taps up three octaves?
IBTG81 Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Holy crap! A little LAMP... I got to play with Maynard. I play sax...My favorite is the bari sax. I loved a song called Coconut Champagne. Dennis Deblasio (who played with Maynard and knows him well) is a cousin of one of my best friends. I got to meet and play CC with Denny and Maynard. It was awesome, and I'll never forget it. An amazing musician, and even though I sucked compared to him (I'm not great in the least), he said he enjoyed it, which just made me so happy. RIP
