udonkey
A buddy and I will be making the trip up to WNY for the Bills/Chargers game in Dec. and the preparations have begun. He and I, along with a few other buddies, first visited WNY in 2001 for the Bills/Bengals game and spent considerable time (we were all 20-21) in Niagara Falls, ONT, and we decided that we definitely want to do at least one night there. Originally, we were planning on driving up Saturday, staying in Hamburg at one of the regular spots, tailgating early Sunday, going to the game, then heading to NF to check into a hotel there. Well, after some quick searching online, we found that we can save a bunch of money ~$100 (better spent at the casino and/or Sundowner) if we stay in NF both nights. Anyone here have any experience at the Oakes Hotel Overlooking The Falls? Keep in mind that we're two 25 year old bachelors, so the view isn't really important, and the quality of the hotel isn't way up there either, but we don't really want to stay in a total shithole and want to be relatively close to the night life. Also, when is the supposed deadline for needing a passport to cross the border? I still don't have one, but have plenty of time to get one if its necessary. Any input would be appreciated. I am not sure how many bars/strip joints are within walking distance, but you should have plenty of choices within a 5 minutes drive.

You get the idea... Currently no passport is needed and would be a lot longer than December before one is needed, so don't worry. I would recommend staying on Chippawa Saturday night. the Hyatt and Hampton Inn are reasonable and it's a great party. Then hit the Falls on Sunday night, celebrate a Bills victory with a nice dancer or two....

30dive
For our anual trip, this will be year nine, we have stayed at the Marriot Fallsview, very nice, reasonably priced, although they can nickle and dime you, it is very close to all locations and an easy cab ride to the Sundowner and the like. beerme1
The Oakes is a nice place with fantastic views if you are facing the falls. You would have no regrets staying there.

No views of the Falls, but you're across the street from the casino, and only a short walk to the Falls.
